Prayer for wife

My wife keeps cursing and yelling at me for the smallest little things. This is out of control. I am literally just doing normal things like getting ice from the freezer, using the restroom, walking around the apartment, opening the fridge, taking a shower.. normal things, and she is constantly yelling and cursing at me, and accusing me of doing something suspicious. I am so tired of this, and I need prayer for deliverance. Pray for her behavior to change, please.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this painful season, lifting both you and your wife before the Lord. The Word of God tells us, "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger" (Proverbs 15:1 WEB). Yet we know the weight of living under constant verbal assault, it wears on the soul, the mind, and even the body. You are not wrong for feeling weary; this is not the marriage God designed. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly, and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25 WEB). And wives are called to respect their husbands (Ephesians 5:33). When harsh words, cursing, and suspicion replace love and trust, the enemy is at work, seeking to destroy what God has joined together.

We must first rebuke the spirit of strife, anger, and accusation in Jesus’ name. The Bible says, "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work" (James 3:16 WEB). This behavior is not of God. We also rebuke any root of bitterness, unforgiveness, or unhealed wounds in her heart that may be fueling this outburst. "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no man will see the Lord, looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it" (Hebrews 12:14-15 WEB).

We pray for your wife, that the Lord would soften her heart, convict her of this sin, and bring repentance. May the Holy Spirit remind her of the love and patience Christ has shown her, and may she choose to walk in humility and gentleness. "Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you" (Ephesians 4:31-32 WEB). We also pray for you, that you would respond with godly wisdom, not returning evil for evil, but overcoming evil with good (Romans 12:21). May the Lord give you strength to set boundaries if needed, and may He protect your heart from bitterness or despair.

Father, in the name of Jesus, we come before You with heavy hearts. We ask that You intervene in this marriage. Break the cycle of anger and accusation. Heal any brokenness in their hearts that is causing this pain. Restore love, trust, and peace to their home. Give this husband wisdom to respond in a way that honors You, and give his wife a spirit of repentance and self-control. Fill their home with Your presence, Lord, so that it may be a place of refuge, not strife. We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we speak life, healing, and restoration over them both. May they see Your love reflected in each other once again. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

If this behavior continues, we encourage you to seek godly counsel, perhaps from a pastor or a Christian marriage counselor, who can help address the deeper issues at play. You are not alone, and God sees your pain. Keep your heart open to His leading, and trust that He is working even when you cannot see it. "But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one" (2 Thessalonians 3:3 WEB). Stand firm in faith, and do not lose hope.

We hear how exhausting and isolating this has become for you. When the person who should be your closest companion turns every ordinary moment into a battle, it wears down your spirit. This isn’t your fault, and you don’t have to carry it alone.

What you’re describing sounds like verbal and emotional abuse, systematic words and tones meant to cut down and control. Even when the accusations make no sense, the constant barrage can make you doubt yourself and sap your hope. It’s a real wound, and it needs real care. Please don’t try to just gut it out silently. Find a trusted pastor or a wise Christian counselor you can talk with honestly. You need someone who can help you sort through what’s happening, see what steps toward safety and health might look like, and pray with you face to face. That’s not an overreaction; it’s wise stewardship of your heart.

In the meantime, be gentle with yourself. You’re not responsible for her outbursts, even if she blames you. We’re praying that God would intervene in her heart, not because you’ve earned it by enduring, but because He loves her and desires truth in the inmost parts. We’re also praying for you: for clear thinking, for moments of peace even in the chaos, and for the courage to take the next right step, whatever that may be.

Father, we lift up this husband who is bone-tired and worn down. You see every word that has been hurled at him, and You know the confusion he feels. Please shield his heart and give him calm in the storm. Bring people around him who will support him with compassion and sound counsel. And in Your mercy, confront his wife with the reality of what she’s doing. Soften her heart, expose whatever hurt or anger is driving this, and lead her to repentance and real change. Grant him wisdom to know how to love without enabling harm, and give him hope that does not put us to shame. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. Please take Heavenly Father soften hearts and strengthen the love and trust and bond in this marriage. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

““But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

The Lord has chastened you sorely, and this trial in your own household cuts to the quick. Yet remember Job, who when his wife spoke foolishly and bid him curse God, held fast his integrity; he knew that we receive both good and evil from the Lord’s hand. This present affliction is not outside His purview, nor is it a sign that He has forsaken you. The arrow has been shot deep into your peace, and you cry out for deliverance, and well you should, for deliverance from the power of sin and strife is as much the work of God as deliverance from guilt. Look to Him alone.

You ask me to pray for her behavior to change; so I will, and so must you, but understand that sanctification comes from a heavenly source. No human instrumentality can wrench out the root of bitterness; it is the Lord who brings forth His people from their bondage. When the lamb was slain, Israel went free. Plead the blood of Jesus over your home. Go into your chamber, you and your wife together if she is willing, and pour out your case before God. If she will not, go alone and cry to Him who hears the groaning of the prisoner. He has found a ransom; He can deliver from the pit of a contentious spirit as surely as from the pit of Hell.

Yet take heed: in waiting for this deliverance, do not fall into sin yourself. Resist the temptation to answer wrath with wrath, or to flee to some low pot-house for solace. The enemy would gladly see you reel home and beggar your own soul while your wife weeps. Stand firm. Bear patiently. This trial may be the very means by which the Lord will work some deeper good in both your hearts, for if we had no troubles, we should have less to declare of His mighty works.

I am bound to believe that the Lord does, at times, whisper sweet assurance to His children that they shall not be crushed. Lay hold of that hope. Wait joyfully until your change comes, a change that will be for the better in all respects. And when He brings you forth from this storm, you shall live and declare the works of the Lord, telling of His faithfulness to the assembled people. Until then, rest your soul upon Him. He will yet come to your deliverance.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
