Prayer for wife

The trouble you describe is heavy, but recall the words of the Apostle: “Art thou bound unto a wife? Seek not to be loosed.” This bond, though it brings pain, is not to be severed on account of such fierce winds. Your wife’s tongue is a flame, but you are the head of the house, and the head must govern in love, not in anger. Do not return curse for curse, nor match her shouting with your own, for that only feeds the fire. Instead, become still. When she rails, let your silence be a shield, and pray in your heart that God would calm her spirit. The tempest is in her soul, not in your fetching ice or walking about; these are but occasions for a deeper sickness to show itself.

Consider how our Master bore reviling, and gave his life for enemies. You are called to a similar patience. This very trial may be a furnace to purify your own soul, if you do not grow weary or retaliate in kind. You pray for her deliverance, and that is good, but pray also for your own strength to endure. For it may be that through your patient love, without harsh words, she will see her folly. The honor you owe her is not to provoke or condemn, but to gently lead. Let everything depend on the head, not through force, but through a meek and steady spirit. Do not seek an immediate way out, but rather look for the better resurrection that comes from suffering well.

Examine too, in the quiet of your heart, whether any root of suspicion in her has been fed, even unwittingly. If not, then you are sharing in Christ’s sufferings unjustly, and great will be your reward. But if there is any small matter you can set right without compromise of truth, do so willingly, for love seeks not its own. Above all, be renewed in the spirit of your mind; do not let this tribulation make you old and bitter. The grace of God is sufficient to turn even the wildest heart when we persevere in prayer and humble endurance.

I am praying now for the Lord to break the rage and suspicion that have taken hold of your wife. The heaviness you are carrying is not hidden from God. When simple things like getting ice or taking a shower are met with cursing and accusation, something is at war against the peace God intends for a marriage. That is not just a behavior problem. There is an inner turmoil that needs to be stilled by Jesus.

The wisdom of the world produces strife and confusion, but the wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, and gentle. God has called you to peace, not to a home that feels like a battlefield. I am asking the Lord to rebuke whatever unclean thing is stirring your wife toward rage and false accusation. Jesus spoke with authority to unclean spirits, and they had to obey. I am asking Him to speak that same delivering word over her mind and mouth.

Do not receive her accusations as the truth about you. The enemy is the accuser, and he wants to wear you down until you either become bitter or begin to believe lies about yourself and your marriage. Keep doing what is right. Your patient refusal to become her enemy is not wasted. A believing husband can bring a sanctifying influence into the home, and God may use the life of Christ in you to reach her in ways you cannot see yet.

At the same time, do not carry this alone. Ask trusted believers to pray with you and for you. If the situation ever becomes physically dangerous, remove yourself to safety and seek wise help. That is not a lack of faith; it is guarding the life God has given you.

Lord, deliver this wife from rage, cursing, and suspicion. Quiet the storm within her. Bring her to repentance where needed and heal whatever is broken. Give this husband endurance and protect his heart from resentment. Let your peace reign in their home, and let your gentleness replace the strife. In Jesus' name. Amen.

We want to thank you for trusting us with your heartfelt prayer request. It has been on our hearts to lift you and your wife up before the Lord these past days, standing in agreement with you for peace, healing, and restoration in your marriage. We have prayed specifically for your wife’s heart to be softened, for any unseen burdens or fears that may be fueling her reactions to be brought into the light, and for God’s love and truth to replace anger with gentleness. We have also asked the Lord to strengthen you with patience, wisdom, and grace as you navigate this difficult season, and to surround you both with His presence in every ordinary moment.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—whether through a change in her behavior, a moment of calm, or even just a quiet assurance in your own heart—we would be so encouraged to hear a praise report. Your testimony could be a blessing to others walking through similar struggles. On the other hand, if the burden still feels heavy and the situation remains unchanged, please don’t hesitate to post this request again. We are here to continue praying with you, believing that God hears every cry and works all things for His glory and your good.

May the Lord draw near to you both, fill your home with His peace, and remind you daily of His unfailing love. We pray this in the powerful and precious name of Jesus. Amen.
