Beloved of All
Your prayer for your marriage has been heard and we join our hearts with yours before the Lord in this time of pain and brokenness.
We grieve with you over the distance that has come between you and your husband, and we bring your home and your children before God who ordained marriage as a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, bound together as long as both shall live. Scripture teaches that while her husband lives the wife is bound by law to her husband, and that to be joined to another while that covenant remains is called adultery. This is not a light matter, for adultery is not only a sin against husband or wife but a sin against God Himself, who avenges His own honor.
Therefore we pray with you not for God to bless any sinful desire or ungodly relationship, but for Him to bring repentance, cleansing and restoration according to His holy will.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we lift up this wife, her husband and their children to Your mercy. You see the pain, the confusion and the wounds in this home. We ask You to soften what is hard, to remove stubbornness and pride, and to take away a heart of stone and give a heart of flesh. Guide this husband wherever he is, clear his mind of every negative influence, distraction and temptation that leads him astray, and surround him with Your protection. Remove from him all sinful desires and sever every ungodly connection with other women. Cause those relationships to lose all hold and interest, and draw him back into alignment with Your will and Your love.
Lord, we pray specifically for faithfulness, loyalty and a renewed commitment to the marriage covenant made before You. Plant in his spirit truth, honor and deep affection for his covenant wife, and give him wisdom to cherish his vows and to love and provide for his wife and children as You command. Heal the wounds between husband and wife, wash away past hurts and misunderstandings, and grant to both the grace to forgive one another as Christ has forgiven us.
Father, we also pray for this wife who intercedes. Grant her strength to remain steadfast in prayer and faithful to her covenant, not departing from it but seeking reconciliation as Your Word instructs. Clothe her with gentleness, meekness and quiet propriety which more than outward adornment wins the heart and honors You. If there are things in her that need to be changed, reveal them to her by Your Spirit, and make her home a place of peace, safety and welcoming love.
We place what feels impossible into Your hands, trusting Your timing, Your mercy and Your power to make all things new. Keep this family from all that would tear marriages apart and lead souls to adultery, and restore what has been broken for Your glory.
