Prayer for our Granddaughters

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I come for prayer in the name of Jesus for our two granddaughters ### age ### and ###,age ###. Our ### only recently divorced from their ###. He was unfaithful, emotionally abusive, during their 18 year marriage. He has a ### personality. His behavior towards our granddaughters while they are at his house for visitation, is confrontational. He wishes to dictate every thought or action.I If he feels doesn't line up with how he believes they should do or think, he is quick to criticize and cause a tense situation leading to an hour long or more discussion. Last night a discussion caused a severe ### attack in ### where she fainted and was un conscious for several minutes. There is so much stress and unreasonable expectations our Granddaughters don't want to be there. I am praying for God's wisdom and direction for our ### to know how to move forward to protect ### and ###'s well-being both physically and emotionally. Our ### and Granddaughters attend church and have a relationship with Jesus. They pray together and know that as their Grandparents we pray for them. I appreciate your prayers and support. I am thankful to God for His grace and mercy and His answers to our prayers.

We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up these precious granddaughters and their mother who have endured so much pain and instability. Father God, we thank You that they know You and walk with You, for that is their firm foundation in this storm. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we stand in agreement with Your Word that says You are a refuge for the oppressed and a stronghold in times of trouble (Psalm 9:9).

Lord, we rebuke the spirit of control, manipulation, and emotional abuse in Jesus’ name. The behavior described is not of You, Your Word calls husbands to love their wives as Christ loved the church, with gentleness, sacrifice, and honor (Ephesians 5:25, 1 Peter 3:7). This man’s actions have caused deep harm, and we ask You to break every chain of fear, anxiety, and stress that has taken root in these young hearts. We pray for supernatural peace to guard their minds and hearts (Philippians 4:7), and for Your healing touch to restore what has been broken.

Father, we lift up the granddaughter who suffered the severe attack, we command her body to be strengthened and her mind to be at rest. You are the Great Physician, and we trust You to bring complete healing and protection over her. Give her mother divine wisdom to navigate this custody situation. May she be led by Your Spirit to make decisions that prioritize the safety and well-being of her daughters, whether that means legal intervention, counseling, or other godly guidance. We declare that the courts of heaven are open, and we ask for favor and justice in the earthly courts as well.

We also pray for the father. While his actions are grievous, we ask that Your conviction would fall upon him. Soften his heart, Lord, and lead him to repentance. If he will not change, we ask that You would remove his influence in ways that protect these girls from further harm. Your Word says that a perverse person spreads strife, but he who is wise seeks counsel (Proverbs 13:10). We pray for godly mentors and counselors to speak truth into his life, and if he remains unrepentant, we trust You to deal with him according to Your justice.

To the mother and granddaughters, we say this: You are not alone. The Lord is your defender, your shield, and your ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not faint (Galatians 6:9). Lean on Him, cast your cares upon Him, and trust that He will direct your steps. We encourage you to seek godly counsel, pastors, Christian therapists, or legal advocates who can provide wisdom and support. The enemy wants to isolate you, but God calls you to community.

We also want to gently address the mention of divorce. While we grieve the brokenness of this marriage, we recognize that Scripture allows for divorce in cases of unrepentant adultery (Matthew 19:9) and abuse (1 Corinthians 7:15). You are not in sin for leaving a destructive relationship, and we pray that you would find healing and restoration in Christ. Your worth is not defined by this man’s treatment of you, but by the love of your Heavenly Father who calls you His beloved daughter.

Heavenly Father, we ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, for there is power in His name to break every chain and bring deliverance. We declare that these granddaughters will rise above this pain, that they will know their identity in Christ, and that they will walk in the fullness of life You have for them. Surround them with Your angels, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways. May they grow in faith, hope, and love, and may this trial produce in them an unshakable trust in You.

We love You, Lord, and we trust You to move mightily on their behalf. Amen.

We're so sorry for what your granddaughters, and all of you, are enduring right now. That panic attack, with fainting, is a clear alarm that the stress and control in their father's home has become physically dangerous. Their bodies are telling them what their young hearts already know: this environment feels unsafe. We're grateful they have you and their mom surrounding them with love and prayer.

While we keep praying, a few concrete steps may help move toward protection. First, if you haven't already, we'd gently encourage having seen by a doctor soon, both to check for any underlying issues and to document how severe the stress has become. That record could be important. Second, because the current visitation arrangement is clearly harming the girls' emotional and physical well-being, their mom would be wise to seek legal counsel, a family law attorney who can help her understand options for modifying custody or visitation, perhaps with supervised visits if the controlling, confrontational behavior continues. This isn't about cutting off their dad, but about establishing a structure that keeps the girls safe. Christian counselors with experience in divorce and emotional abuse can also give the girls a safe place to process what they're going through and rebuild their sense of security.

It's okay for your family to set firm boundaries around what kind of treatment is acceptable, even when the other person resists. You are not being difficult by seeking to protect these children; you are being faithful stewards of their lives. We stand with you, asking God to give their mom clarity, courage, and the right advocates to walk with her.

Please pray with us: Father, we lift up and to Your strong arms. Guard their hearts and calm their fears. Give their mom supernatural wisdom and the support she needs to make hard decisions for their good. We pray for their dad, too, that his heart would be softened, but regardless, that any harmful patterns would be interrupted. Surround this whole family with Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sorrow you bear for your granddaughters is a weight that love must carry, and it is a love that mirrors the heart of Christ Himself, who wept with those who wept. Yet in this present trial, let faith peer across the stream of death and see the glories God has prepared, for even here the dross is consuming and the precious metal gains by the loss. The young hearts of and are being tried as by fire, but if they cling to Jesus, they shall come forth as gold.

I hear the cry for wisdom and direction for their mother. Truly, wisdom is man’s true path. When the Lord says, “Ask what I shall give you,” ask for divine wisdom, ask to be taught of Him, and ask for grace to do His will in all things. Christ is the wisdom of God, and His gospel is the highest of all sciences. In Him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He giveth liberally to those who ask without upbraiding. Let your daughter, then, seek not the wisdom of this world, which is folly, but that wisdom which cometh from above, first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated.

And for those dear lambs, remember the child who trembles at the dark lane: “Mother, I will go anywhere with you.” Even so, Jesus goes with them into the house of conflict. Though the father’s tongue wounds, the Spirit of Christ can bind up their hearts. Tell them, “Fear not, for I am with thee.” God hath given His angels charge over them, to keep them in all their ways. That protection is perpetual and personal. When they sit in the lonely room after a harsh word, they are not alone, for an innumerable company of blessed spirits surrounds those who trust the Lord.

Your concern for your kinsfolk is right; charity must begin at home, and he who cares not for his own household is worse than an infidel. But do not let that concern become a snare of anxiety. Tread the world under your feet, and serve God with all your heart. Live for Christ alone, for where your consecration ends, your peace ends too. The Lord who suffered the little children to come unto Him will not suffer these two to be utterly cast down. He will make a way. Look now to Jesus, the power of God and the wisdom of God. For you there is no need to fear; if He be for you, who can be against you? He hath trodden down our enemies, and He shall yet give rest from this trouble.

Continue in prayer, and let your granddaughters and their mother rest in the finished work of Christ. The day will declare it.

Do not ask why such trials befall these innocent ones. The disciples once asked, when they saw the man blind from birth, "Who sinned, this man or his parents?" Yet our Lord answered, "Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents, but that the works of God should be made manifest in him." Even so, your granddaughters' present anguish is not a mark of divine displeasure, but an opportunity for the glory of God to be revealed. He permits this bitter cup not to destroy, but to wean them from every false dependence and to anchor their hearts more firmly in Him. The enemy rages through their father's words, yet he is but an unwitting instrument; the Lord sees, and the Lord will act.

You come as Paul, sending your heart with them into that troubled house, full of care, full of prayers. And it is right that you be anxious. I know a parent's fear; I gave Timothy counsel for his bodily health out of such love. Yet be not overcome by that anxiety. Do you not see that, even from their infancy, the grace of God has been upon them? They attend church, they pray, they know Christ. That is no small gift; it is the mark of a proper child, like Moses, drawing even strangers to aid them. Trust that same grace now. Pray without ceasing, but do not let your spirit be disturbed like a stormy sea. The man who is anchored in God enjoys a profound calm, though the winds blow. Be that harbor for them, unwavering.

As for their father's behavior, it springs from his own bondage to anger and self-will. Do not marvel that sin makes men like ravenous beasts. But take comfort: this trial, grievous as it is, can become for those girls a bitter medicine that destroys their appetite for the world's poison. They are being taught, even now, to flee to the true Father, to seek the mercy that teachers and children alike so urgently need. Plead that mercy upon him, yes, but above all guard them, physically and spiritually. The Lord provides wisdom to those who ask. Therefore, continue to lift them up, reminding them that these present sufferings are not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed. Let them not fear his endless discussions, but in prayer find a refuge where the clamor cannot enter. God is near to the brokenhearted; He will not suffer them to faint forever. Stand firm, and you will see His deliverance.

The torment your granddaughters are enduring is heavy on my heart. What you describe, a man who uses words as weapons, who must dominate every thought until a child's body collapses, is not mere disagreement; it is a crushing weight. The world often calls this kind of controlling intensity wisdom or constructive discipline, but Scripture shows us a different source. The wisdom of this world takes the wise in their own craftiness and comes to nothing. God knows the thoughts of such reasoning are vain. When a man professes himself to be wise in setting everyone's thoughts straight, yet produces only fear and physical collapse, he has become a fool in the things that truly matter. Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God, and His yoke is easy; His burden does not drive a young heart into unconsciousness.

Because you asked for wisdom and direction for your daughter, I want to point you toward a particular work of the Holy Spirit. There is a gift called the word of wisdom, not a permanent storehouse a person can tap at any moment, but a sudden, heaven-sent clarity given in a confusing situation. When everyone is polarized and the path seems blocked, the Lord can drop a single word or insight that satisfies the hearts of those who fear Him and opens a way forward. That is what I am asking God to release to your daughter right now: not a five-step plan born of fear, but a Spirit-breathed direction for how to shield these girls, whether through legal steps, firm boundaries, or a creative provision no one has considered. Pray with her for that specific word, trusting that God is not stingy with His wisdom when His little ones are being crushed.

You also need to know that you are not alone in this. Within the body of Christ, there is a protective covering, a strength and help that no isolated believer possesses. Just as a physical veil in ancient times declared “touch not” to those who would harm, so the gathered prayers and active love of the church form a shield around these granddaughters. When you, your daughter, and others in the congregation stand together in intercession and practical support, you become a living guard against the enemy’s attacks. The father’s harsh voice may be loud, but the voice of the Lord breaks cedars. Do not underestimate what it means that you are part of a body where every member can fulfill a function for their protection and where the Spirit’s gifts operate for the profit of all.

I have read reports of abuse that made me put the papers down because I could not bear to see what is done to the little ones. Your granddaughters are experiencing a form of that, and it is not hidden from the God who sees. He takes the wise in their own craftiness; the very controlling discussions that are meant to break them will be undone by His hand. Your job is to keep pointing these girls to Jesus, whose cross looked like foolishness to the world but remains the only true rescue from the destruction sin causes. Keep praying together. Keep modeling the simple trust that He is their shield. And expect the Lord to answer with a wisdom that makes all the world’s proud reasonings look empty. His grace and mercy are upon this household, and He will not abandon those who cry to Him.
