Disciple of Prayer
I'm here asking for prayer for my marriage my husband texted me some very hurtful things today. His mother told him alot of things about me thats not true. It was hurtful that this woman wants us apart this much to go to this great lengths the sad part is that he believes her. All the the things she said about me aren't true if they were I wouldn't be so hurt. She has been trying ro tear my marriage apart since ### please lord stop her remove her. Im literally sick and tired of this woman intervening in my marriage but I blame my husband for alot of this to allow her to say the things she is saying about me thats not true if it was true I wouldn't care but I been nothing but faithful to his man despite what she has done and said I ask God to remove e her from my marriage and my husband to see clearly. I dont know why she does like me I have been nothing but good to his woman but I cant get the same from her. I wish she would just leave us alone. Please pray for my marriage he asked for a divorce and said alot of hurtful things to me. He basically said he been cheating on me something his mother said I was I was doing knowing I would never disrespect my marriage like that im to the point im gonna give him they what they want. Im losing It im about to go file for divorce so they all will be happy.

We hear your pain and we are grieving with you over these hurtful words and the division that has come into your marriage. We thank you for sharing so honestly and for remaining faithful to your husband even when you have been falsely accused. God sees your faithfulness and He knows the truth when others speak lies about you.

We want to remind you what God says about marriage. From the beginning God said For this cause a man will leave his father and his mother and will be joined to his wife and they will become one flesh Gen 2:24. Jesus repeated this and added What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate Matt 19:6. Marriage is a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman that God honors and protects. We also read For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, the God of Israel Mal 2:16. God does not take divorce lightly and He calls both husband and wife to guard that covenant even when it is painful.

We must lovingly rebuke what is wrong here. The lies spoken about you are a serious sin. God hates a lying tongue and a false witness who utters lies Prov 6:16-19. A mother in law should not be seeking to tear apart what God has joined. At the same time your husband bears great responsibility. He is called to love his wife even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her Eph 5:25 and to live with his wife with understanding giving honor to her as a fellow heir of the grace of life 1 Pet 3:7. When he repeats slander lets his mother speak evil against you and speaks corrupt and hurtful words to you himself he sins against God and against his vows. Let no corrupt speech proceed out of your mouth, but only what is good for building up Eph 4:29. If as you shared he has said he has been cheating on you that is adultery and God calls that sin to be confessed and forsaken. Marriage is to be held in honor and the bed undefiled Heb 13:4. Sex outside of marriage is adultery and it wounds the covenant deeply and must be repented of.

We also need to speak to your own heart in this moment of great hurt. You said you are sick and tired and ready to file for divorce so they will all be happy. We understand that exhaustion and the desire to escape the pain. Yet we urge you not to make a permanent decision in a moment of anger and despair. God calls us not to let the sun go down on our wrath Eph 4:26 and to bear with one another and forgive each other as the Lord forgave us Col 3:13. The scripture says to the married I command not I but the Lord that the wife not leave her husband and that the husband not leave his wife 1 Cor 7:10-11. Divorce will not bring peace and it will not make those who are acting unjustly happy in the way you hope. It will wound you and dishonor the covenant God made with you both. We encourage you to pause to seek wise godly counsel from a pastor or mature believers and to set loving but firm boundaries with your mother in law rather than seeking her removal through anger or hatred. We are called to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us Matt 5:44 and as much as it is up to us to live at peace with all men Rom 12:18. We should pray not that God would harm her but that He would transform her heart and remove the ungodly influence and division.

We noticed you cried out to Lord but did not mention the name of Jesus Christ. We want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to God. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already put your full trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior who died for your sins and rose again we invite you to call on His name today and to bring every prayer to the Father in His name. It is only by His name that our prayers are heard and our sins forgiven.

We now pray together for you and your marriage.

Father in heaven we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this dear sister and her marriage to You. Lord You see every tear You hear every false word spoken against her and You know the truth. We ask You to convict the heart of her husband and open his eyes to see clearly. Remove the blindness and the influence of lies and help him to take his place as a godly husband who leaves and cleaves to his wife protects her and speaks truth in love. Lord we pray for his mother that You would soften her heart convict her of the sin of slander and division and bring her to repentance. We do not ask for harm to her but for Your transforming grace to work in her and for healthy boundaries to be established so this marriage can be guarded. Heal the wounds caused by hurtful texts and by the threat of divorce and by any adultery that has occurred. Bring confession repentance and forgiveness where sin has happened. Give this wife strength to not act in haste but to wait on You to forgive as You have forgiven and to stand firm in faithfulness. Guard this covenant and let no man separate what You have joined. Give wisdom to seek godly counsel and surround them with people who will speak Your truth. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in prayer and in the Word to not retaliate with hurtful words of your own and to document truth calmly if needed for counsel. Keep praying for your husband daily that God would turn his heart back to you and to the Lord. Seek a trusted pastor or biblical counselor right away before any legal steps are taken. God is able to restore what has been broken and to bring beauty from ashes when both hearts are surrendered to Him. We are standing with you and we trust God to work for good as you seek His will in Jesus name.

We are so sorry for the pain you are carrying today. To be accused of things that aren't true, to have those words come through your husband's phone, and to feel his mother working against your marriage while he believes her instead of you, is deeply wounding. It makes sense you feel sick and tired and ready to just give in so the hurt will stop.

When a parent remains so involved, it puts a marriage in an impossible position. Part of what helps a marriage breathe is having clear boundaries, like a property line, where a husband and wife learn together what they will own and protect as their own household. That is not something you can build alone while texts are flying and emotions are raw.

Before you make a permanent decision about filing, we encourage you to give yourself a little space from the immediate back and forth. It can help to pause on replying to hurtful texts for a day or two, and to bring one steady, wise person in with you, a pastor or biblical counselor you trust who can listen in person and help you sort next steps calmly. If you need legal information, a local attorney can explain options without you having to act right away.

We are praying for you and your husband in this painful moment.

Father, we lift this wife to You and ask for Your comfort and steadiness around her tonight. Guard her heart and give her wisdom for each conversation and decision. We ask You to bring clarity and truth where there has been confusion and hurt, and to draw both husband and wife toward honesty, repentance and healing. Give them wise counsel and protect this marriage as You lead. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your sorrow has been heard, and it has moved us to carry your burden to the throne of grace. To be wounded by the words of the one who vowed to love and cherish you, and to feel that false accusations from without have found belief within your own home, is a sharp affliction. The Lord knows that your tears are not for a light matter, and He sees your faithfulness where others have spoken falsely against you.

We would point you to the healing that is in Christ alone. It is written that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only His great fruit, but even His leaves have virtue in them to restore the sick soul. When the heart is sick with sorrow and the home is sick with strife, there is abundant healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. He is the Sun of Righteousness who rises with healing in His wings, and pardon and healing are joined together in Him. He knows how to take away the heart of stone and to write His law upon the heart of flesh, and He is able to do that blessed work of regeneration and sanctification in you, in your husband, and in those who have set themselves against your peace.

Concerning your marriage, hear what the Scripture teaches, for it is our only comfort and guide. Marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, ordained of God, wherein a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall cleave unto his wife. It is not to be torn asunder by the words of others, nor by hasty anger, nor even by our own deep hurt. We understand the weariness that makes you say you will give them what they want and file for divorce that they may be happy, but divorce will not bring happiness nor healing. It will deepen the wound. The Lord would have you seek Him first, not the dissolution of what He has joined together.

We do not pray that God would simply remove a person from your life, but that He would remove the bitterness, the falsehood, and the division that has taken root. Pray for your husband, that the Lord would give him a clear eye to see the truth, a faithful heart to honor his vow, and courage to stand for his wife as he ought. Pray for his mother, that God would soften her heart and turn her from sowing discord to seeking peace. And pray for yourself, that you may be kept from repaying evil for evil, and that you may be sustained in faithfulness and gentleness even when sorely tried.

Do not act in the heat of this great hurt. Seek godly counsel quickly from a faithful pastor or mature believers who hold to the Word of God, who can walk with you both and speak the truth in love. Guard your lips and your heart, commit your cause to Him who judges righteously, and be willing to obey His law while you trust Him to forgive and to heal. Choose not to continue in bitterness, but come and believe in Jesus anew each day, that your immortality and your present sorrow may both be met by His grace.

We pray now for you.

O Lord, our God who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds, look upon this daughter of Zion in her sore affliction. Thou hast seen the hurtful words spoken and the false things believed. Thou knowest her faithfulness and her weariness. Let the healing leaves of the tree of life fall upon this home. Forgive sin where sin has been done, and heal where healing is needed. Take away the heart of stone where there is hardness, and write Thy law of love upon each heart. Grant to this husband repentance where he has sinned, clarity where he has been deceived, and faithfulness to his covenant. Grant to this wife strength to endure, wisdom to act with holiness, and comfort in Thy presence. Let no root of bitterness spring up to defile, and let this marriage be restored and preserved for Thy glory. We ask this trusting not in our worth, but in the blood of Jesus Christ, who alone is our salvation. Amen.
