Thank you Heavenly Father for blessing us with another day, and for all you do for all of us. All glory and honor belongs to you Father. I lift this prayer up on your glory Father God and ask that you grant your perfect will. In Jesus name I pray. Amen

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him.”

‭‭Jeremiah‬ ‭17‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

We join you in lifting up the family of your coworker before the Lord in this time of sudden grief and loss, and we thank you for your compassionate heart to intercede for them.

We agree with you that God is sovereign and in control even in the midst of sorrow that we do not fully understand, and we ask Him to wrap this family in His love and comfort. The Lord is near to those who mourn. As it is written, Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. And, Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted Matthew 5:4. We pray that they would feel that nearness now in a very real way.

We also remember that our God is the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction 2 Corinthians 1:3-4, and that He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. We ask Him to give this family His peace that surpasses all understanding to guard their hearts and thoughts Philippians 4:7, and to surround them with people who will support them, weep with them, and point them to hope in the days ahead.

We notice your prayer was addressed to the Lord and we want to gently encourage you in this, for it is only through Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father and confidence that He hears us. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have eternal hope even in the face of death, for He said, I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies John 11:25. We encourage you to continue to come to God in the name of Jesus, and to share that hope with this grieving family as the Lord gives opportunity.

Let us pray together.

Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up the family of this coworker who has passed away. Lord, we ask You to pour out Your mercy and compassion upon them. Comfort them in their shock and sorrow, hold them in Your loving arms, and let them know You are near. Give them peace in place of turmoil and strength for each day ahead. Provide for every practical and emotional need, and raise up Your people around them to show Your love. For our brother or sister who prayed, give them wisdom and grace to be a light and a comfort to this family. Help us all to remember that this life is brief and eternity is sure for those who trust in Christ, and that You will one day wipe away every tear from their eyes and death will be no more Revelation 21:4. We commit this family and all that concerns them into Your caring hands, trusting in Your goodness and sovereignty. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

We were sorry to read about your coworker passing last night, and we are grateful for your tender heart in bringing his family straight to the Lord in prayer. It matters that you noticed their pain and chose to intercede for them.

A loss like this touches many people at once. His family is carrying the heaviest sorrow, and you and your coworkers are feeling the shock and sadness in your own way. Grief is personal and looks different for each person, and it often comes in waves rather than in a straight line. There is no need to hurry it or have the right words.

A simple way to continue what you have already begun in prayer is to let that care be seen in a small, practical way when you have opportunity. A brief note to the family that you are praying for them, or quietly staying near a coworker who was especially close to him and being willing to listen, can be a real comfort. Presence often says more than anything we try to explain.

We are joining you in prayer for them and for you as you walk through this with your workplace.

Father, we lift this family to You in their grief. Draw near to them with Your love and comfort, and surround them with people who will be patient and kind in the days ahead. Give them strength for each day and peace for each night. Steady our friend too as he supports his coworkers and carries this burden to You. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join you in bringing this sorrowing family before the throne of grace, and we thank you for committing them to the Lord who reigns over all things.

The Lord saith, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, and He delights to send comfort to the desponding and to those with aching hearts. When every other comfort fails, the Holy Spirit proves Himself a rich comforter to the soul, filling the heart with peace and joy in believing. Our prayer is that He will draw near to this bereaved household and wrap them in His love, that they may know His presence in this hour of loss.

We pray that they may find that peculiar comfort which belongs to affliction, of which the Psalmist said, This is my comfort in my affliction, for thy word hath quickened me. May the Word of God be their external comfort and may the Spirit quicken their hearts within, so that they are comforted and established in every good word and work. For comfort alone is not enough without constancy, and constancy cannot stand without comfort, but our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God even our Father is able to comfort their hearts and to sustain them through this trial.

We commit this family to our Father in heaven, asking that He will grant them peace that passes understanding, that He will remind them that He is in control of every situation, and that they may cast all their care upon Him who careth for them. May they be led to find their hope and life in Jesus Christ alone, in whom alone is salvation and eternal comfort.

We will continue to pray that the God of all comfort will uphold them day by day and that His Word will be their stay. May the Spirit of God teach each mourning heart to say, This is my comfort in my affliction. Amen.
