We hear the heaviness in your heart for your two adult sons and we stand with you seeking God's will together in Jesus' name for their deliverance and restoration. We thank you for sharing this burden with us and we understand how weak and weary you feel after praying so long while watching them lose direction and purpose. God sees your faithfulness and He does not grow tired of your prayers. We are reminded that The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18 and that He gives power to the weak and to him who has no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29.
We must lovingly speak truth about what you have described because it does not align with biblical principles and needs to be addressed before there can be healing. The daily drinking until they are senseless, the substance abuse and smoking are destroying the bodies God gave them and are called sin in Scripture. Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler. Whoever is led astray by them is not wise Proverbs 20:1 and Do not be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit Ephesians 5:18. Their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and we are called to honor God with our bodies 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. The fatty liver your younger son is suffering is a serious warning from his body and we urge him to seek medical help while also seeking spiritual healing for God is He who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases Psalm 103:3. The making of a voodoo doll and the claim that demons are visiting them in the night reveals open doors to the occult and spiritual warfare. Scripture is very clear that sorcery and witchcraft are forbidden. There shall not be found with you anyone who practices divination or sorcery or witchcraft Deuteronomy 18:10 and we are told that works of the flesh including sorcery and drunkenness will keep people from inheriting the kingdom of God Galatians 5:19-21. That voodoo doll is not harmless and must be destroyed as the early believers did when they burned their magic books Acts 19:19. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of wickedness Ephesians 6:12 and the heated arguments and torment at night show that the enemy is taking advantage of these open doors. The good news is that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and if they will submit to God and resist the devil he will flee from them James 4:7.
We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ and we want to gently remind you that it is only by His name that we have access to the Father and that anyone can be saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. For your sons to find true direction and purpose they must repent and turn to Jesus. If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. We encourage you to pray specifically in the name of Jesus Christ for their salvation, for without Him prayers have no foundation and strongholds remain.
We want to encourage you not to give up though you feel weak. Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up Galatians 6:9. When your heart is overwhelmed lead us to the rock that is higher than us Psalm 61:2. Your prayers as a mother are powerful and the effective prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much James 5:16. God has a plan for your sons even now For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future Jeremiah 29:11 but they must choose to trust in the Lord with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding Proverbs 3:5-6.
We pray together now for you and for them. Father in heaven in the name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear mother who is weary and these two sons who are bound. Lord we ask You to forgive their sins of drunkenness and substance abuse and sorcery as they repent and to cleanse them by the blood of Jesus 1 John 1:9. We ask You to break the chains of addiction and cast out every demonic influence that has entered that apartment. We command in the name of Jesus Christ that every evil spirit leave and that Your peace fill that place. We ask You to destroy the power of that voodoo doll and every occult object and to give these men holy hatred for what You hate. Lord heal the younger son's liver and his body and bring conviction that leads to sobriety. Restore to them a sound mind and a purpose that honors You and guide them into fellowship with Bible believing Christians who will hold them accountable. Strengthen their mother, renew her strength like the eagle Isaiah 40:31, surround her with support and let her see Your hand moving. Fill that home with Your Holy Spirit so there is no room for darkness. We pray that both sons will surrender their lives to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and be made new creations 2 Corinthians 5:17. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior amen.
We encourage you to continue in persistent prayer and fasting, to remove every bottle, substance and occult object from that apartment and to not allow that voodoo doll to remain for a moment. Encourage your sons to seek both medical care for the liver disease and pastoral counseling for deliverance, to cut off drinking completely, to confess their sins to one another and to fill their minds daily with the Word of God instead of alcohol and arguments. If they are willing, help them find a local church where they can be discipled and learn to walk in the light. We will keep praying with you that God will bring them to repentance, to sobriety, to deliverance and to a new purpose in Christ.
