Thank you for letting us share in your need and for asking for prayer. We are praying for you and asking the Lord to touch your body with His mercy and strength and to give you peace as you wait on Him.
We want you to know that God cares about your physical health. When Jesus walked on earth He showed His power over sickness again and again, healing a man with leprosy, the servant of a centurion, Peter's mother in law, and many others who were brought to Him in the evening. Matthew connects that ministry of healing to what Isaiah wrote, that the Messiah would bear our infirmities and carry our sicknesses. That tells us healing is not outside of what Christ came to do. When He gave His body for us, it was for our whole need, spiritual and physical. God is still able to heal today and He is still concerned with our physical needs.
At the same time Scripture helps us keep a balanced hope. The apostle Paul prayed three times for the Lord to remove what he called a thorn in the flesh, and the Lord did not remove it but gave him grace to live with it and to learn deeper dependence. That shows us we cannot presume that God wills healing in the same way or at the same time in every case. His wisdom is higher than ours, and His answer is always loving even when it is not what we expected.
You may have heard the words from the letter to Gaius about prospering and being in health as your soul prospers. That was John's warm personal wish and prayer for a beloved friend, much like we would say we hope a letter finds someone well. It is not a blanket promise that everyone who believes will always be well, but it does show God's kind desire for us and it reminds us there is a real connection between the health of our inner life and the health of our body. Attitudes, peace, worry and hope can affect us physically, and the Lord wants our souls to prosper through His Word and His presence.
Please do not think that sickness means you have failed spiritually or that strong faith guarantees freedom from illness. Some of the most faithful and godly people have walked through long seasons of physical suffering. Loving and trusting God does not give us immunity from hardship in this life, though God does help us and walk with us through it.
So we pray for your healing with confidence that Jesus is able, and with trust in His perfect will and timing. We also encourage you to care for your body in practical ways as God gives wisdom, with rest, nourishing food, cleanliness and good counsel from doctors, since God cares about how we steward the bodies He has given us.
