It is good that you have brought your daughter and her classmates before the Lord in prayer. He hears the prayers of parents and He is the true source of both wisdom and knowledge.
Scripture teaches that wisdom calls out openly and invites all to come and receive from her. She has prepared a place for us and urges us to partake. The beginning of that wisdom is the fear of the Lord. When a heart reverences and trusts Him, wisdom has a foundation to build on. That is the best starting place for your daughter today, even before any facts are remembered for an exam.
The Bible makes a distinction between knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge gives facts, while wisdom is the right use and application of those facts. For a lab exam especially, both are needed, but wisdom is the principal thing. It is better than rubies and better than riches, and all that we might desire cannot be compared to it. Wisdom preserves and keeps those who love her, she is a defense and she gives life to those who have her. Praying for wisdom for your daughter is praying for more than memory, it is praying for understanding and for the ability to apply what she has learned with clarity and calm.
We see this in the example of Solomon, who asked God for wisdom to carry out the responsibility set before him rather than asking for money or honor. God was pleased with that request and gave him wisdom, and added other blessings besides. In the same way, when we ask God for wisdom He is pleased to give it. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and He has been made wisdom for us. To seek wisdom is in a real sense to seek Him.
There is also a difference between the wisdom that comes from above and the wisdom of this world. The wisdom of the world, apart from God, is called foolishness before Him and it comes to nothing. It leads to striving and anxiety. The wisdom that comes from above leads to purity, peace, gentleness and good fruit. As you pray, ask not only that your daughter and her classmates would recall what they have studied, but that God would give them a quiet and pure heart, free from envy or strife or fear, and that the peace that comes from His wisdom would guard them as they work.
May the Lord pour out His Spirit of wisdom and understanding upon your daughter and upon each student in that room. May He help them to remember what they have learned, to apply it well, and to do their best with diligence and integrity. Above all, may this test be an opportunity for them to learn to trust the One who founded the earth by wisdom and established the heavens by understanding, and to know that their true security is in Him.
We join you in asking that God would grant them clear minds, steady hands, and a calm confidence in Him today, and that whatever the result, they would grow in the wisdom that begins with fearing and trusting the Lord.
