Prayer for evil horrible co-workers fired held accountable

Your request has been read with care and with sorrow for what you have endured. To be treated as less than human, to face verbal abuse and cruelty for months and years, and to feel that those over you did nothing, is a heavy burden to carry. I also heard that yesterday was your birthday, and that you are carrying the weight of a difficult phone call today with people in higher authority. It is right that you have sought help and that you want the cruelty to stop.

I want to be honest with you in love about how we can pray. You asked for prayer that God would punish, terminate and bring harm upon your coworkers, and that He would make others feel pity for you and act against them. Scripture teaches us not to pray in that way. We are commanded to pray for our neighbors and even for our enemies, not against them, and to let every prayer be accompanied with thanksgiving. The mouth that prays to God is not to utter curses or imprecations, for cursing and praying are far apart. We are called to be kind and tender hearted, forgiving one another even as God in Christ forgave us. That forgiveness does not mean what happened to you was small or that it should continue. It means we imitate God, who forgave us while we were still far from Him, and we leave justice in His hands. He has shown that even when justice allows for repayment, He mingles mercy with justice and calls us to show great consideration even while we suffer. Vengeance belongs to the Lord, and He will put all enemies under His feet in His time and in His way.

So we will not ask God to fire or destroy those who have hurt you, but we will pray with you and for you in the way Christ taught us.

We will thank God that He sees you, hears you, and values you, and that He is near to those who are mistreated. We will pray that He guards your heart from bitterness and keeps your tongue pure, so that no bitter word proceeds from you even under provocation. We will pray that He gives you peace, endurance, and wisdom for the phone call today, that you may speak the truth calmly and clearly, with grace and without hatred, and that those listening will hear with fairness, compassion and wisdom to take right and lawful action to stop abuse and protect everyone in the workplace. We will pray for your coworkers as well, that God would soften every heart, including our own, bring conviction where there has been cruelty, and lead all to repentance and new life through Jesus Christ alone, for He alone saves. We will pray that God would bring an end to the mistreatment, provide a safe environment for you, and give you counsel and support through wise and godly people around you, and that your birthday season would be marked not by revenge but by healing, hope and the knowledge that you are loved by God.

If you are willing, pray with us in this way: Father, thank you for hearing this prayer and for loving us through Jesus Christ. Give comfort and strength to your child who has suffered long. Grant wisdom and calm in the conversation today, and guide those in authority to act justly and mercifully. Forgive us as you have forgiven us in Christ, and teach us to love even those who have hurt us. Soften hearts, stop cruelty, and bring repentance and peace where there has been harm. Protect and provide, and let your will be done. In the name of Jesus, amen.

We will continue to pray for your protection, for truth to be known, for cruelty to cease, and for God to form in you a heart that is free, forgiving and at peace as you trust Him. If you can, seek wise counsel and support in your church and workplace as you walk through these next steps, and let us know how the conversation goes so we can keep praying.

Thank you for sharing so honestly about the painful way you have been treated at work for such a long time. To be spoken to cruelly and made to feel less than human, day after day, is a heavy burden to carry, and it is understandable that you are weary and longing for it to stop. It is also understandable that you want to be believed and treated with compassion when you share what has happened, especially after you have tried to report it and felt unheard.

God sees what you have endured and He cares about both truth and justice. Scripture tells us that He is a God of righteousness and justice who wants what is right to prevail. At the same time, we live in a world where justice often feels far off and truth seems to fall in the street, and even in places where we should expect fairness we do not always find it. That does not mean God is indifferent. He is the final judge who sees all things clearly, and we can trust Him to do what is right in His time and way.

Because the hurt has gone on for months and years, there is a real danger that bitterness can take root in the heart. The Bible warns to watch diligently lest any root of bitterness spring up and trouble you, and through it many become defiled. Bitterness that is held onto does not punish those who hurt you. It eats away at you. It can pour out of your life and defile your own peace, your health, and your relationships, while those who hurt you may go on unaware. Forgiveness is the key to being free from that.

Jesus taught that forgiveness is not a matter of mathematics or keeping count of offenses. When Peter asked if forgiving seven times was enough, Jesus pointed to a far greater number to show that forgiveness is a matter of the spirit, a way of life for His followers. It is to be from the heart. Having been forgiven so much by God through Christ, who prayed even for those who crucified Him, Father forgive them for they know not what they do, we are called to follow that example. Scripture says to be followers of God in forgiveness and to walk in love as Christ loved us and gave Himself for us. It also teaches us to pray, forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors, which reminds us that we have received forgiveness and must also be forgiving.

This kind of forgiveness is not a suggestion or an option. Jesus presented it as a command, and He also promised help to obey it. You cannot manufacture this spirit on your own, but if you are willing, you can ask God for it. A simple and honest prayer is, God, give me a spirit of forgiveness. Take away this bitterness and give me Your heart toward those who have hurt me. If you are willing, He will give you the capacity to forgive, and His forgiveness toward you is complete and total, not partial or with the handle left out so the offense can be pulled up again.

That does not mean what happened to you does not matter, or that reporting wrongdoing is wrong, or that you must remain in harm's way. It is right to tell the truth and to seek a safe and respectful workplace. It does mean that your heart before God matters as you do so. Justice is getting what we deserve. Mercy is not getting what we deserve. Grace is getting what we do not deserve. We all, if justice alone were done, would stand condemned before God, but through Jesus we have received mercy and grace. Remembering that helps us desire mercy and grace for others as well, even those who have treated us badly. Many who act cruelly are themselves blinded and held captive, and they need the same forgiveness of sins that we need.

So for your upcoming phone conversation, my prayer is not that God would simply give you the outcome you have asked for as a birthday gift, but that He would give you something far better and more lasting. I pray that He will give you peace and guard your heart, that He will help you speak truthfully and clearly with wisdom and calmness, that those listening will act with fairness, honesty, and genuine care, and that the right steps will be taken to stop any abusive behavior and to make the workplace safe. I pray that God will soften hearts on all sides, lead those who have done wrong to see it and to seek forgiveness, and most of all that He will soften and heal your own heart, lifting the weight of bitterness and filling you with His love and strength.

If you are willing, ask Him today to help you forgive from the heart, not because the hurt was small, but because you have been so greatly forgiven. That spirit of forgiveness will protect you far more than any punishment of others could, and it will keep you free to follow after peace with all people as Scripture encourages.

May the Lord comfort you, assure you of His presence and His justice, and give you grace for each step ahead. May He meet your needs, guide you, and deliver you from this long season of pain, and may you know the joy of His complete forgiveness at work in your own heart.

We thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer. We have continued to lift you up before the Lord regarding the very difficult and painful situation with your coworkers, the cruel and verbally abusive treatment you have endured for months and years, and the frustration of store level management doing nothing to bring justice.

We have been praying specifically for that important phone call with the high ranking corporate contacts you emailed, that God would soften their hearts and that they would truly hear you, believe you, and respond with empathy, compassion and fairness. We asked the Lord to give you favor, peace and wisdom as you shared your case, and that truth and justice would prevail. We also remembered that you shared your birthday was just the day before you posted, and we have prayed that the Lord would comfort you and restore your joy after such a long season of being treated so harshly, and that He would be close to you as it says in Psalm 34:18.

We know that God sees every hurt and hears every prayer and that He is a God of justice as it says in Romans 12:19 and Isaiah 30:18. We continue to pray that the Lord will stop the mistreatment you have faced, bring accountability where it is needed according to His perfect will, and provide you with peace and protection in your workplace. We pray for His will to be done and for His peace to guard your heart.

If your request was answered and the Lord has intervened, whether through that phone call or through action taken by the corporate leadership, please post a praise report and let us all know so we can rejoice with you. If your request does not seem to have been answered yet and the situation remains unresolved, please post it again as a new request and allow us to continue with you in prayer.

We pray in Jesus Name that the Lord will grant you justice, peace and vindication in His timing and that He will make His presence known to you in a powerful way. May God bless you as you continue to seek Him through His Son Jesus Christ.
