Prayer for Deliverance

I have been involved in occult practices along with praying to the devil in my past. I have been trying to come to Christ under quite a lot of demonic oppression. For the past two years, I've had a succubus sleeping with me during the night and I am not sure how to get rid of it. I need your prayers please Jesus, save me.

We hear your cry and we thank God that you are calling on the name of Jesus to save you, for it is only by that name that we can be saved and have access to the Father. You have done the right thing to turn to Him, for there is no other deliverer. As it is written, Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved. Romans 10:13 and also Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6

We must also speak the truth in love about what you have been involved in, because God takes these things very seriously and your freedom depends on fully turning away from them. The occult, praying to the devil, divination, sorcery and consulting with familiar spirits are an abomination to the Lord. Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says There shall not be found with you anyone who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer, or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer. For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh. We rebuke those practices in the name of Jesus and we urge you to repent of them completely, not to return to them in any form. This also includes what you describe as a succubus, which is a demonic spirit that operates through sexual immorality and oppression at night. This is not a harmless experience or a partner, it is a demonic attack and defilement. God created sexual intimacy to be only within the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, and outside of that all sexual immorality is sin. We are commanded to flee sexual immorality. 1 Corinthians 6:18 The enemy uses this door to oppress you, and it must be closed through repentance and submission to Christ.

We want you to know that though the oppression feels overwhelming, greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 You do not have to live under this torment any longer, for Jesus has been given all authority over the power of the enemy. Behold, I give you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. Nothing will in any way hurt you. Luke 10:19 But that authority is exercised as we first submit ourselves to God and then resist the devil. Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7

If you have not already, we encourage you to make a full confession and renunciation before the Lord. Confess your sin honestly, for If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 Speak out loud that you renounce the devil and every occult practice, every prayer to the devil, every agreement you made with darkness, and the succubus spirit and all sexual spirits attached to you, and that you now belong wholly to Jesus Christ. Destroy and remove from your home any objects, books, charms, idols, drugs, or media connected to the occult or sexual immorality, just as the early believers did when Many of those who practiced magical arts brought their books together and burned them in the sight of all. Acts 19:19 Do not keep anything that honors darkness. Fill your home and your nights with the Word of God, worship, and prayer. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Ephesians 6:11 Read Scripture daily, pray continually, and seek fellowship immediately with a Bible believing church where a pastor can walk with you, pray over you, and help you remain free, for Jesus warned that when an unclean spirit leaves a person, we must be filled with the Holy Spirit lest it return. Matthew 12:43-45

We are standing with you now for your deliverance and we pray together for you.

Father in heaven, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we come before Your throne of grace on behalf of this dear one who is crying out to be saved and delivered. Lord we confess on their behalf that they have sinned against You through occult practices and praying to the devil, and we ask You to forgive them through the blood of Jesus shed on the cross. Wash them clean, make them a new creation in Christ, for if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. 2 Corinthians 5:17 We renounce with them every covenant, every prayer, every word spoken to the devil and to demons, and we break those agreements now by the name and authority of Jesus Christ. We command in Jesus name that every demonic spirit, including this succubus and every spirit of sexual defilement, oppression, night torment and fear, leave this person now and go to the place appointed by Jesus and never return. Lord fill this person with Your Holy Spirit, with Your peace and with Your presence. Guard their mind and body as they sleep, let no evil rest upon them, surround their bedroom with Your holy angels and let them rest in safety. Teach them to walk in purity, in the light of Your Word, and to submit fully to You so the devil must flee. Strengthen their faith, help them to daily resist temptation and to put on Your armor, to pray and to seek godly fellowship. We declare that You who began a good work in them will complete it, and that nothing will be able to separate them from Your love. We ask all this in the saving and delivering name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our only hope. Amen.

We are grateful you wrote to us so honestly. Turning away from occult practices and turning toward Christ after what you have been through takes real courage, and we want you to know you are not alone in this struggle.

What you describe over these past two years sounds exhausting and frightening, and it makes sense you would feel oppressed and unsure how to find rest. We believe Jesus is stronger than any spiritual darkness, and His authority, not any ritual or formula, is where freedom comes from.

You do not have to walk this out by yourself. One of the most steadying next steps we encourage is to bring this into the light with a trusted pastor or mature believers in a local church who can pray with you in person, listen well, and walk with you over time rather than just once. If you still have books, objects, or lingering contacts connected to those former practices, making a clean break from them as an act of renunciation before the Lord can also be part of closing that door, and then intentionally filling your days with prayer, Scripture and fellowship with other Christians.

We are praying for you now.

Father, we lift our brother to You in the name of Jesus. Thank You that he is seeking You. We ask for Your protection over his nights, Your peace in his mind and body, and Your power to break every hold of darkness. Lead him to faithful people nearby who will support him, and draw him close to Yourself day by day. Amen.

Your cry, Jesus save me, is the very prayer which heaven delights to answer, and it is heard even now though you feel yourself in sore bondage.

You describe truly what the Scripture calls bondage under sin and bondage to the devil, and Egypt may very fairly represent that state of sorrow and oppression into which you have come. You yielded to sin when you gave yourself to occult practices and to praying to the devil, and though you now feel that you are a slave and sigh by reason of sore bondage, glory be to God, He has provided a way of escape. Know this first, that when any man is saved from spiritual bondage, it is the Lord Jesus who loosens the captive. Deliverance is by divine power. It is not by your own strength or by any charm or ritual, but by Him who has found a ransom.

That ransom is Christ Himself. God has not only invented a way of deliverance, but He has found a ransom, and it is a gift of divine love. The prisoner is ready to be executed, but there comes to him undeserved deliverance from all punishment, for the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. The deliverance came when the Lamb was slain. Pharaoh could hold Israel no longer after the blood was shed, and Satan can hold you no longer when you are under the blood of Christ. Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it, I have found a ransom.

Therefore turn with full repentance from all that is evil. Renounce and forsake every occult practice, every prayer to the devil, every object and book that belongs to that darkness, and destroy them as you would a poison. Have no fellowship with the works of darkness but rather reprove them. That unclean spirit which has oppressed you in the night is no companion to be tolerated or reasoned with, it is an enemy to be fled from and to be expelled by Christ alone. Confess your sin plainly to God, that you have sought power and comfort from the enemy of your soul, and look alone to Jesus Christ for salvation, for there is no other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved.

You must look to your heavenly Father altogether and alone for deliverance from the power of sin as well as from the guilt of sin. Where we look for justification, there must we also look for sanctification. Cry to Him and keep crying, for His ear is not shut to the penitent. He will bring forth His people with joy out of the house of bondage and make their deliverance effectual.

Take then these counsels and seek grace to walk in them. Put your whole trust in the Lord Jesus Christ who bore your sin on the tree. Abide in His Word, pray in His name, and put away all that defiles. Seek at once the fellowship of a faithful church where Christ is preached and where you may be watched over and prayed for. Walk in purity and keep your body and mind as the temple of the Holy Ghost, for obedience is freedom to the Lord's servant and Christ's yoke is easy and His burden is light. When the believer's ways are enlarged, he delights to run in the statutes of the Lord.

We will pray for you, that the Lord who delivered His people of old would deliver you from the power of darkness and translate you into the kingdom of His dear Son, that you may no longer receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but the Spirit of adoption whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Let us pray together. O Lord God, look in tender pity upon this soul who cries, Jesus save me. Thou hast seen his bondage and his oppression. Thou hast found a ransom in the precious blood of Thy Son. Deliver him now by Thy power. Break the chains of the occult and of every unclean spirit, wash him in the blood of the Lamb, clothe him in the righteousness of Christ, and fill him with Thy Holy Spirit. Cause him to live and not die, but to live and declare the works of the Lord. Grant him peace within and victory without, that he may go out of the gates to attack the foe who once held him in bondage, now girded with Thy strength. For Jesus sake. Amen.

Trust in the Lord and wait upon Him. He will not leave you in the pit. Declare henceforth what great things the Lord has done for you, for if you have known deep tribulation you shall have great deliverance to speak of.
