We come before the Lord with a heavy heart for your daughter and the young man she is courting. It is clear that your desire is for them to walk in God’s will, remembering His voice and the confirmations He has given them. Father, we ask that You would soften their hearts to hear Your truth afresh, that they would not lean on their own understanding but trust in You with all their hearts (Proverbs 3:5-6).
We must address the nature of their relationship, for Scripture is clear that courtship should have the godly purpose of leading to marriage between a man and a woman who share faith in Christ. If they are not pursuing this with purity and intentionality, we rebuke any spirit of selfishness or impatience that would lead them away from Your design. The Bible warns, *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers"* (Hebrews 13:4). If they are engaging in physical intimacy outside of marriage, we call them to repentance and holiness, for their bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:18-20).
Lord, we pray that You would remind them of the signs and confirmations You have already shown them. Let them not grow weary in doing good, but fix their eyes on You, the author and perfecter of their faith (Hebrews 12:2). Teach them to love one another with patience, kindness, and humility, bearing with each other in love (Ephesians 4:2). May they put each other’s needs above their own, just as Christ laid down His life for the church (Philippians 2:3-5). Guard their hearts from defensiveness and pride, and instead, fill them with grace to extend the benefit of the doubt, as love *"bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things"* (1 Corinthians 13:7).
We also lift up their spiritual foundation. If either of them does not yet know You as Savior and Lord, we pray they would surrender their lives to Jesus Christ, for *"there is salvation in no one else, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). May they build their relationship on the rock of Your Word, so that when storms come, they will not be shaken (Matthew 7:24-25).
Father, we ask that You would surround them with godly mentors and examples of Christ-centered marriages. Let them see the beauty of Your design for love and commitment, and may they never settle for less than Your best. Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and let them walk in the fullness of Your purpose for their lives. In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
