Prayer for a job

Please prayer for me as I search for a job, to get passed the interview stage and to stay positive amongst the rejection emails that come through. I'll the reject is God's redirection.

We join with you in this season of waiting and searching, and we understand how discouraging it can be to face interviews and then receive rejection emails. We want you to know that God sees your diligence, your needs, and your heart, and He cares about your provision and your peace. Your perspective that rejection is God's redirection is wise and biblical, for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose, Romans 8:28, and that a man's goings are established by Yahweh and He delights in his way, Psalm 37:23.

We encourage you to continue to commit your work and your search to the Lord. Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established, Proverbs 16:3. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Colossians 3:23, knowing that it is ultimately Him we serve and who provides. When anxiety and disappointment rise, we are reminded in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. He also reminds us, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future, Jeremiah 29:11. Even a closed door can be His loving guidance toward the right open door at the right time. We also remember His promise to supply every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:19, as we seek first God's Kingdom and His righteousness, Matthew 6:33.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we gently want to share why we always pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by believing in Jesus, that He died for our sins and rose again, and by calling upon His name, that we are saved and can come boldly before God's throne in prayer. We encourage you to put your trust fully in Jesus as Lord and Savior if you have not already, and to bring every request to God through Him.

We pray together for you now. Father, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You know the need for employment and the desire to provide and to use the gifts You have given. We ask that You open the right doors that no one can shut and close the doors that are not Your best. Grant favor in the eyes of interviewers, give clarity of mind and peace in each interview, and let words be spoken with grace and confidence. Guard this heart from discouragement when rejection comes, and fill it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Help our friend to stay positive, to keep hope, and to trust that You are redirecting toward Your perfect provision. Provide daily strength, encouragement, and renewed hope while waiting, and supply every need according to Your riches in glory. Lead to the job where You want service to be given for Your glory. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Thank you for inviting us to pray with you in this search. Getting past the interview stage takes real effort, and opening another rejection email after hoping this might be the one can wear anyone down. We hear your desire to stay positive and to trust that when a door closes God is redirecting you, even while the waiting is discouraging.

It makes sense that disappointment and hope can sit together. A rejection can sting even when you know it is not a measure of your worth or your future. Allowing yourself to name that disappointment for a little while, instead of pushing past it quickly, can help you keep going with a clearer mind.

One small rhythm that helps many in a long search is to give the search a contained space. You might set specific hours for applying and following up, then intentionally step away and check email at one or two set times rather than all day. It can also help to invite one trusted friend, mentor, or pastor to check in weekly, to pray with you and to look over an application or practice an interview question together. That keeps the search from taking over every hour and gives you steady support.

We are standing with you and asking God to provide and guide.

Father, we lift our friend to You in this job search. You see each application, each interview, and each disappointment. Give rest and renewed strength, wisdom for the next steps, and peace in the waiting. Provide for daily needs and help him to know Your nearness and care day by day. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your request has been brought before the Lord and before His people, and we join with you in prayer concerning this search for employment.

We understand the weariness of which you speak, the length of the way and the trial of waiting, and the sting that comes with each letter of rejection. Yet we are reminded of Job, of whom it is written, In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. He lost much, and yet he kept right with God, and the Lord who tried him was also the Lord who sustained him and at the last restored him. If God could uphold Job in all his losses, He can assuredly support you in this season. Look to Him for that divine support, and be as patient as Job, that hope may shine like a star which never sets.

You have well said that rejection in the hands of God becomes redirection. We believe this is true, for our God reigns with sovereign wisdom and orders all our steps. What seems to us a closed door is often His gracious hand turning us toward the place He has prepared. There is no hope in ourselves, but there is hope in Him whom God has provided. When a man is weaned from self and from looking to the flesh for help, there is hope for him, for then he looks to the Lord alone. So we would have you look not to your own strength or eloquence in the interview, but to the Lord who gives favour and opens doors that no man can shut.

We pray for you now, that the Lord would in His mercy grant you an open door of employment suited to your gifts, that He would give you favour in the sight of those who interview you, and grant you clarity of speech and quietness of spirit. We ask that He would guard your heart against discouragement when the answer is no, and would keep you established in the hope of your calling, not moved away from trust in His goodness. We pray that He would anoint you with fresh oil, and renew your strength day by day, so that even in waiting you may know His provision and His peace.

Take encouragement, for though your case is trying, it is not a strange one, and there is hope for you. The Lord hears the prayer of those who seek Him through Jesus Christ, and He withholds no good thing from those who walk uprightly. Continue to seek Him, to search the Scriptures, and to commit your way unto Him. He who has led you thus far will not leave you without guidance for what is to come.

We will continue to bear you up before the throne of grace, asking that the God of all providence would lead you to the right position in His perfect time, and that you would see His hand both in the opportunities given and in those withheld, trusting that He works all things for good to them that love Him.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
