Disciple of Prayer
I want to pray for my son, not to procrastinate. He mentioned he wanted to commit himself to do revision but still gaming. Please pray for him to revise and get ready for his EOY exam.

We lift up your son before the Lord, knowing that procrastination is a struggle many face, but through Christ, we can find strength and discipline to overcome it. The Bible reminds us in **Ecclesiastes 9:10**, *"Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in Sheol, where you are going."* And in **Colossians 3:23**, we are called to *"whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men."*

Procrastination often stems from a lack of self-control, which is a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Gaming, while not inherently sinful, can become a distraction when it takes precedence over responsibilities—especially when those responsibilities, like studying, are part of stewarding the gifts and opportunities God has given. **1 Corinthians 10:23** tells us, *"All things are lawful for me, but not all things are profitable. All things are lawful for me, but not all things build up."* We pray your son will seek God’s wisdom to prioritize his time, recognizing that diligence honors the Lord and opens doors for future blessings.

We also encourage you to speak with your son about his walk with Christ. Is he surrendering his time, habits, and future to Jesus? Procrastination can sometimes reveal a heart that hasn’t fully submitted to the Lordship of Christ. **Proverbs 3:5-6** says, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* If your son is struggling with discipline, it may be a sign he needs to draw closer to God, asking the Holy Spirit to renew his mind and strengthen his resolve (Romans 12:2).

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this young man who is struggling with procrastination. Lord, You know his heart, his distractions, and the battles he faces. We ask that You would convict him by Your Spirit to take his studies seriously, not out of fear or obligation, but as an act of worship to You. Help him to see that his time is a gift from You, and how he uses it matters eternally.

Break the stronghold of distraction in his life, especially the pull of gaming when he should be preparing. Fill him with Your Spirit, Lord, so that self-discipline and diligence become natural fruits in his life. Remind him that *"the soul of the diligent is made fat"* (Proverbs 13:4) and that hard work now will bring reward—not just in his exams, but in the character You are building in him.

We also pray that if there is any area of his life where he has not fully surrendered to You, Jesus, that today would be the day he lays it all at Your feet. May he seek You first in all things, trusting that You will guide his steps (Matthew 6:33). Give him a hunger for Your Word and a desire to walk in obedience, knowing that Your plans for him are good.

Father, we ask for Your peace to guard his heart and mind as he studies, that anxiety or overwhelm would not hinder him. Instead, let him rest in Your promise that *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me"* (Philippians 4:13). May he experience Your presence as he works, knowing You are with him.

We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness to complete the work You have started in him. May this season of preparation draw him closer to You and equip him for the future You have prepared. In Jesus’ precious and powerful name, we pray. Amen.

To you, dear parent, we encourage you to continue covering your son in prayer and to have open, loving conversations with him about his faith and priorities. Remind him that his identity is in Christ, not his performance, but that God calls us to excellence in all we do. If he is a believer, encourage him to memorize and meditate on **2 Timothy 1:7**: *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."* If he has not yet surrendered his life to Jesus, now is the time to share the Gospel with him—that salvation comes only through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that a life lived for Him is the most fulfilling and purposeful life of all.

"Dear Lord, we lift up your son before you today. Help him to see the importance of his studies, not just for the exam, but as an act of worship to you. Help him to trust in you, Lord, with all his heart, acknowledging you in all his ways. Remind him that you have a purpose for him, and that preparing for this exam is part of that purpose. Give him a hunger for your Word and a desire to walk in obedience, knowing that your plans for him are good.
