We hear your cry, dear sister in Christ, and we lift your heartbreak before the Lord with deep compassion. The pain of a broken heart is real, and we know how deeply it can wound the soul. But we also know that our God is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). He is the Great Physician, and He alone can heal the deepest places of your heart.
First, we must gently address the nature of this heartbreak. If this man is not your husband, and if this relationship was not one that honored God’s design for marriage between one man and one woman, then we must rebuke any attachment that does not align with His Word. The Bible is clear that our affections must be set on things above, not on earthly desires that lead us away from God’s best (Colossians 3:2). If this relationship involved sin, whether emotional or physical, we must repent and turn away from it, for the Lord calls us to purity and holiness (1 Thessalonians 4:3-5).
If this man is not a believer, or if the relationship was not moving toward marriage in a godly way, then we must surrender these feelings to the Lord. The Bible warns us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers (2 Corinthians 6:14), and our hearts must be guarded above all else, for from it flow the springs of life (Proverbs 4:23). If this was a relationship that could not honor God, then we must ask Him to uproot these feelings and plant something new, something that aligns with His will.
But if this man was a potential spouse, and the heartbreak comes from a godly courtship that did not end in marriage, then we grieve with you. The pain of unfulfilled longing is real, but we trust that God’s plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11). He may be closing this door to open a better one, and we must trust His timing and His ways.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this dear sister who is carrying the weight of heartbreak. Lord, You see her pain, and You collect every tear in Your bottle (Psalm 56:8). We ask that You would draw near to her and heal her broken heart. Take away the longing for this man if it is not Your will, and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
If there has been any sin in this relationship, whether emotional or physical, we repent, Lord. Cleanse her heart and renew her mind (Romans 12:2). Help her to walk in purity and to set her affections on You alone. If this man was not the one You had for her, we ask that You would remove these feelings completely and fill her with hope for the future You have planned.
Lord, we declare that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and that You have a purpose for her life. We ask that You would bring the right man into her life at the right time, a man who loves You first and who will cherish her as Christ cherishes the Church (Ephesians 5:25). Until then, help her to find her fulfillment in You alone.
We rebuke the spirit of despair and loneliness in the name of Jesus. We declare that she is not abandoned, for You will never leave her nor forsake her (Hebrews 13:5). Fill her with Your joy, Your strength, and Your hope. Let her heart be anchored in You, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You (Romans 8:28).
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Dear sister, we want to encourage you with the truth of God’s Word. The Lord is close to you in this season, and He is working even in the midst of your pain. Psalm 30:5 says, “Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.” This season of heartbreak will not last forever. God is preparing you for something beautiful, and He is using this time to draw you closer to Him.
Spend time in His presence, in prayer and in His Word. Let Him fill the empty places in your heart. Surround yourself with godly community, with sisters in Christ who can pray with you, encourage you, and hold you accountable. And remember, your worth is not found in any man, but in Christ alone. You are deeply loved by the One who gave His life for you.
If this heartbreak is tied to a relationship that was not honoring to God, we urge you to fully surrender it to Him. Do not entertain thoughts or memories that keep you bound. Instead, fill your mind with Scripture and with praise. The enemy would love to keep you in a place of despair, but God has called you to freedom (Galatians 5:1). Walk in that freedom, and trust that He has something far better for you.
If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. The Bible tells us that “if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9). There is no other name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. If you would like to pray to receive Christ, we would be honored to guide you in that prayer.
You are not alone, dear sister. We are standing with you in prayer, and we believe that God is going to do a mighty work in your heart. Trust Him, lean on Him, and let Him carry you through this season. His love for you is unshakable, and His plans for you are good.
