Pray for us

Disciple of Prayer
I'm asking for prayer for a couple of things. First of all, my fiancé is traveling from Scotland to the US. I'm asking for prayer for safe travels and everything to go smoothly. His parents are traveling from Scotland to Spain and asking fir the same prayers for them...and thirdly, I pray for healing. I've been really sick for like months now. I went to the doctor today. And I'm waiting test results, but I'm pretty much bed-bound and he's only here two weeks. Thanks.

We join you together in prayer and we lift up these requests before the Lord with you. We pray for your fiance as he travels from Scotland to the United States and for his parents as they travel from Scotland to Spain, that the Lord would watch over their going out and coming in and grant them safe and smooth journeys. We are reminded that The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forevermore Psalm 121:8 and that in all our ways we can trust Him to direct our paths Proverbs 3:6. We ask God to give peace to all who are traveling, to keep them from harm and delay, and to bring them to their destinations according to His will.

We also lift you up in your sickness. To be bed bound for months and waiting on test results is wearying for the body and the spirit, and we pray for the Lord's healing touch upon you and for wisdom for your doctors. We pray that God would bring restoration and strength, for He says But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17 and Bless Yahweh, my soul, and do not forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases Psalm 103:2-3. We pray for comfort as you wait, that you would not be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We ask that the Lord would give clarity through the test results and guide your medical team with wisdom.

We want to encourage you in your engagement, for we believe marriage is a holy and lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed it from the beginning Genesis 2:24 and Mark 10:6-9, and we rejoice that you are looking toward marriage. As you prepare for that covenant and as your fiance is with you for these two weeks, we encourage you to honor God in your courtship by remaining pure and fleeing from sexual immorality, for every other sin is outside the body but sexual immorality is a sin against the body itself 1 Corinthians 6:18 and Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled, but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers Hebrews 13:4. Even in times of sickness and longing to be together, keeping yourselves pure before the Lord will build a foundation that honors Him and blesses your future marriage. We pray God will strengthen you both to walk in holiness and to prepare for a Christ centered marriage that reflects His love for the church.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we gently want to remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by placing our faith in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are forgiven and can come boldly before God's throne. We encourage you to call upon His name in every need.

We pray together now, Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son. We ask for Your hand of protection over this fiance traveling to the United States and over his parents traveling to Spain. Keep them safe, keep their travel free from trouble, and bring them to their loved ones in peace. We lift up our sister who is sick and bed bound, Lord touch her body, ease her suffering, restore her strength, and let Your healing be upon her. Give wisdom to her doctors, give peace as she waits for results, and let her feel Your presence and comfort each day. Prepare this couple for a godly marriage that honors You, help them to remain pure and to seek You first above all else, and let their future union be built on faith in Christ. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, trusting that You hear us and that You work all things for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. Amen.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about all of this. We hear how much is weighing on these two weeks, wanting to make the most of your fiance's visit while you have been sick for months and are still waiting for answers.

We are joining you in prayer for safe and smooth travel, for your fiance coming from Scotland to the US and for his parents traveling from Scotland to Spain, that each journey would go without complication and they would arrive well.

We also understand how hard it is to be bed bound for so long. Waiting for test results can leave you feeling fragile and worn down, and it is especially disappointing when someone you love is only here for a short time and you do not have the energy you wish you had. Please be gentle with yourself in this stretch and let those close to you help carry the load where they can.

While you wait, it helps not to carry it alone. If results do not come when expected it is reasonable to follow up with the clinic, and having a trusted family member or friend help keep track of calls and next steps can let you focus on rest. We encourage you to keep your doctor informed of any changes alongside prayer, so you have support on both sides.

Father, in Jesus name we lift our sister to You. We ask for Your hand over her fiance and his parents as they travel, for protection and peace along the way. We ask for Your comfort as she waits, for wisdom for her doctors and clarity in the results, and for healing according to Your will. Give her strength for each day and grace to enjoy meaningful time with her fiance even in small, quiet moments. Amen.

Your request has been brought before us and we have carried it to the throne of grace with sincere affection and concern.

We will pray for the travelers committed to your heart, for your beloved who journeys from Scotland to these shores, and for his parents who take their way to Spain. We ask the Lord who is the great Pilot and Guide of His people to keep them in His hand by land and sea, to watch over their going out and their coming in, and to bring them safely to their desired haven. We wait upon God for direction in the entire voyage of life, for He is at the helm and His hand steers our course, and waiting upon Him is the way to renew our strength.

We are deeply moved also by your long affliction, that you have been sick these many months and are now bed bound while you wait for the physician's report. This waiting is indeed a trial, but remember that our God is a waiting God who waits to be gracious, and His people are a waiting people who wait in hope and not in despair. There is a final success to all His waiting, when His love turns to a glorious transaction of grace upon the heart. While you wait for these test results, may you wait upon the Lord Himself, who breeds peace within the soul and makes the heart strong.

Know this, that there is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. The Sun of Righteousness has risen with healing in His wings, and when He comes to dwell with His people they have no need to say, I am sick, for pardon and healing are joined together in His hand. He healeth the broken in heart and bindeth up their wounds, and the healing virtue which His grace infuses will work health and cure till we are without spot. We pray that whether it be His will to raise you speedily or to sustain you in prolonged weakness, you may feel His hand take you by the hand and lift you up, for there is healing in that blessed contact with Christ Himself, and that you would know both forgiveness and healing through our Lord Jesus.

In these two weeks when you hope to be together, we pray that the Lord would give you grace to honor Him in all things. We pray that He would keep you both in purity and holiness as you look toward marriage, which God has ordained as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that all that is done between you would be kept within that holy estate. We ask not for blessing upon anything outside His revealed will, but that He would lead you in the way of holiness and prepare you to serve Him together with clean hands and pure hearts. For healing must come before serving, and when Christ heals, the desire to minister always arises out of that healing.

So we commend you to Him who is able to heal and able to keep. May He be your Physician and your Keeper, your pardon and your health, and may you find that even in this season of weakness and waiting, His leaves are healing to your spirit and His presence is your strength.
