Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and your desire for a companion. It is a beautiful blessing that you have walked with God for most of your life, and He hears your prayers and cares about this area of your life.
I want to encourage you to seek wisdom as you consider this situation. It is true that God can create something with the appearance of one age while its true age is quite different. When He created the first man, that man would have looked like a mature adult even though he was only a day old, because maturity was built into him from the beginning. In the same way, the way a person looks does not change the reality of how many years they have actually lived, what experience and maturity they have gained, and what stage of life they are in.
Looking younger than your years may be a gracious gift from the Lord, but it does not make chronological age unimportant. The idea that age is just a number can sound appealing, yet Scripture calls us to consider wisdom, maturity, life experience, and season of life with great care. A difference of many years often also means a difference in life stage, responsibilities, expectations for the future, and spiritual maturity, and those differences matter deeply if a friendship were to move toward marriage.
Marriage in Scripture is a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and any relationship moving in that direction is meant to be marked by purity, patience, honesty, and self control, keeping physical intimacy within that covenant alone. For that reason it is wise not to move quickly based on attraction or pursuit alone, even when the attention feels affirming.
I encourage you to bring this before the Lord with a desire above all for His will, not simply for companionship. Ask Him for clear discernment, for peace that comes from obedience, and for counsel from mature believers who know you well and can speak honestly into your life. Keep clear boundaries, guard your heart, and take time to observe character, faithfulness, and spiritual leadership over time rather than words alone. If this younger man is sincere, he will respect caution, welcome wise counsel, and be willing to wait and to honor the Lord in how he treats you.
My prayer for you is not simply that God would bless a particular outcome, but that He would lead you clearly. May the Lord give you wisdom to see what is real and not only what appears to be, grant you strength to do what honors Him even when it is difficult, keep you both in purity and in truth, and draw you closer to Jesus, who is your first and most faithful companion. If it is His will to provide a husband, may He make that path plain in His timing and in a way that brings spiritual health to you both. If not, may He fill the longing with His own presence and peace as you continue to trust Him.
