We lift this precious soul before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of bondage he carries—anxiety that steals his peace, sleepless nights that drain his strength, and the false refuge of alcohol that only deepens his despair. The Word declares, *"The thief comes only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly"* (John 10:10 WEB). This young man is not living in the abundance Christ died to give him, and we grieve over the lies he has believed—that escape is found in drink, that belonging is found in the wrong crowd, and that his future is without hope.
We boldly rebuke the spirit of deception that has blinded him to God’s purpose for his life. The enemy seeks to isolate him, to keep him wandering without direction, but we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We pray against the stronghold of addiction, for *"no temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). Lord, reveal to him the way of escape from every snare.
Father, we ask You to break the chains of anxiety that grip his mind. Your Word says, *"Be anxious for nothing; but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus"* (Philippians 4:6-7 WEB). Replace his restlessness with Your perfect peace. Let him taste and see that You are good (Psalm 34:8 WEB), that true rest is found in You alone.
We pray for the harmful influences in his life—those who draw him into darkness rather than light. Lord, sever every ungodly tie, and surround him with believers who will speak life into him. *"Do not be deceived! ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals’"* (1 Corinthians 15:33 WEB). Remove those who lead him astray and bring godly mentors and friends who will point him to Christ.
Most of all, we plead for his salvation. *"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life"* (John 3:16 WEB). Soften his heart to receive the gospel. Let conviction fall upon him, not of condemnation, but of Your love. May he cry out as the prodigal son did, *"I will arise and go to my Father"* (Luke 15:18 WEB). Fill him with a hunger for righteousness and a hatred for sin.
We also lift up the one praying for him, who loves him deeply. Strengthen them to persevere in intercession, to speak truth in love, and to model Christ’s patience. Remind them that *"love never fails"* (1 Corinthians 13:8 WEB), and that their prayers are not in vain.
Lord, we ask for a miraculous turnaround in this young man’s life. Let him wake up to the reality of Your presence, to the hope of Your calling, and to the freedom that is his in Christ. May he become a testimony of Your redeeming power, a light in the darkness he once walked in. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the only Name by which we are saved. Amen.
