Chrysostom
Beloved of All
We have heard your request and we join you in prayer before God with love in Jesus name. Your desire to meet a woman to love and to marry is good, for marriage is honorable and pure, a bond ordained by God from the beginning when He made them male and female to become one flesh. Scripture calls us to follow peace and holiness, and holiness in this matter means a chaste and orderly life, keeping oneself pure before marriage and faithful within it. Marriage itself preserves the holiness that comes through faith in Jesus Christ by not permitting any defilement of it. It is a sweet and honorable covenant, and everything belonging to it should be full of chasteness, gravity and order.
While you wait, we encourage you to use this time well, to be steadfast in prayer, to abound in good works, and to keep your body pure, trusting that marriage is not a hindrance but a calling that is best entered with a well ordered soul. Even Isaac waited forty years and kept himself in virginity until God provided, and young men under grace are called to the same self restraint, so that when marriage comes it may receive bodies pure and undefiled and be truly blessed.
We pray for you in Jesus name, for it is only through Jesus Christ that we have salvation and access to the Father. We ask that according to His will and wisdom the Lord will bring to you the woman He desires for you to love and to marry, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that He will make a practical way for you to meet and to come to know each other in a pure and orderly manner. We pray that He will give you both a sincere interest in one another, a steadfast love that does not quickly give up, and that you may grow in knowledge of one another with patience, respect and faith. We pray that He will keep you both from fornication and from living together outside of marriage, reserving the union of bodies for the covenant of marriage itself, and that your relationship may be built on faith and purity.
We also pray that God will work powerfully in your life and show His mercy, granting miracles as He in His wisdom sees fit, providing for your needs, guarding your heart from discouragement, and leading you step by step. May He grant you peace as you wait and help you to trust His timing and His goodness.
We will continue to pray for you, that the Lord will guide you, keep you pure, and in His perfect time open the door that He desires for you. May His grace and peace be with you. Amen.
