Pray for me to meet a woman

Your prayer request has been received and brought before the Lord with gratitude. The desire you express, to meet a woman whom God intends for you to love and to be joined with in marriage, is good and right. Marriage is honorable and pure, a bond ordained by God. It is not itself the source of holiness, but it preserves the holiness that comes through faith in Christ when it is kept chaste and orderly, with each keeping to the other in faithfulness and not permitting defilement.

Scripture calls us to follow peace with all and holiness, and this holiness is lived out in purity whether unmarried or married. If unmarried, remain pure and seek a wife in the Lord. If married, live faithfully with your own wife. In either state we are called not to make provision for the flesh to fulfill its lusts, but to care for the body only for health and for service to God, and to spend our chief labor on spiritual things. This is how we prepare ourselves while we wait, keeping our hearts and bodies ready for the gift God may give.

We also remember that marriage is a place for gravity and order, not for lightness or impurity. The time of waiting is therefore not wasted. Even Isaac passed many years in virginity before he received his bride, and young men under grace are called to even greater self restraint, so that when marriage comes it may be entered with a clear conscience and with honor.

With this in mind we pray for you in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father.

Heavenly Father, we thank you for this man and for the desire for marriage you have placed in his heart. We ask in the name of Jesus that according to your wisdom and timing you would bring to him the woman you have prepared for him to love and to marry, that it may be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman as you ordained from the beginning. Grant practical ways for them to meet and to come to know one another in a manner that is pure, orderly and chaste. Give to both a genuine and steadfast interest in one another, a love that is patient and persevering, not hasty or self seeking, but willing to bear and to remain faithful until they truly belong to one another in marriage. Keep him in holiness and peace while he waits, guarding his heart from provision for lust and guiding him to use his time for prayer, for good works and for growth in faith. Work miracles in his life as only you can, not for display, but for your glory and for his good, and let all be done in love. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Continue to seek the Lord daily, to walk in purity, to be faithful in prayer and in every good work, and to trust his timing. He who gives marriage also gives the grace to wait for it and to keep it holy. May the Lord bless you and keep you, and establish you in his love and peace.
