Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing your heart and asking for prayer. Your desire to love and marry a woman in a lifelong covenant is good and reflects God's design for marriage in this present life. Scripture teaches that marriage belongs to this age. When Jesus was asked about a woman who had been married to seven brothers in turn under the law given through Moses that a brother should raise up children for his deceased brother, He answered that in the resurrection people neither marry nor are given in marriage but are like the angels in heaven, and He affirmed that God is the God of the living. That truth can encourage you. Marriage is a holy gift for now, and God honors those who seek it according to His will, while our ultimate hope is eternal life with Him.
I have prayed for you in the name of Jesus, asking that if it is His will for you to marry, He would bring you together with a godly woman in His perfect timing and make a practical way for you to get to know one another in a healthy and honoring way. I have prayed that He would give you both genuine interest in one another, steadiness, and commitment that does not quickly give up, and that He would work in ways that only He can do. God is able to do miracles, and we can trust Him to do what is best and most loving according to His wisdom.
As you wait, continue to prepare your own heart. Scripture says that all who want to live a godly life in Christ will face hardship, and that faith needs deep roots so it does not wither like seed with no root or become choked among thorns. Growing up in a faithful Christian home and being brought to church from infancy is a blessing, but each person must have his own rooted walk with Jesus. Seek to grow in that daily walk, in purity, in prayer, and in the Word. Ask God to keep you from a critical and fault finding spirit like those who watched Jesus only to accuse Him, and who thought even touching a sinner would defile them. David learned that his sin of adultery and murder was ultimately against God, and we too need a humble and gracious heart toward others. Also remember the woman who broke her costly jar and poured it all out on Jesus. That kind of wholehearted, generous love is the pattern for marriage, not holding back but giving fully in covenant love.
Pray that God will guard you from the destructive work of the enemy, whose purposes are always evil, and that you will walk in the protection and peace of Christ. Keep seeking the Lord first, trusting Him with this desire, and living faithfully where He has placed you now.
Father, in the name of Jesus I bring this brother before You. You know his longing for a wife and for a marriage that honors You. If it is Your will, lead him to the woman You have for him and provide clear and practical ways for them to meet and grow to know one another in purity and wisdom. Give them both sincere love, patience, and perseverance. Do Your miraculous work in his life for Your glory, and above all make him more like Christ as he waits and trusts You. Amen.
