Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing honestly about what you are carrying right now. I am praying for you in this sleepless hour, with the tiredness from caring for your little niece and the tense thoughts that keep turning over in your mind.
God understands both your body and your spirit, and He wants you to know His peace. The Scripture says that He will keep in perfect peace the one whose mind is stayed on Him, because that person trusts in Him. Jesus said to His disciples, Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you, not as the world gives. This is not the shallow calm the world offers for a moment, but a deep and steady peace that guards the heart and mind.
There is first peace with God, which comes only through Jesus Christ who made peace through His blood on the cross. When we belong to Him we are no longer at war with God or running from Him. Then there is the peace of God, that quiet keeping of the heart that comes as we keep our eyes and thoughts fixed on Him. When the mind stays on Him and trusts that He is in control and will take care of what concerns us, that beautiful peace begins to fill the heart even when circumstances are still unsettled.
The Lord has ordained peace for His people. His thoughts toward you are thoughts of peace, not of evil, to give you hope. He is like a shepherd who lies at the door and watches over His own, so nothing can pass without going through Him. He is also the one who joins heaven and earth, near to you even now, seeing you and caring for you in this moment.
So bring those tense thoughts to Him right now. Tell Him each worry by name and ask Him to take them. Turn your mind toward Jesus, His love, His presence, His promise to keep you. As you do, His peace which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind.
I pray for you now that the Lord will lift every anxious thought, quiet your mind, and fill you with His perfect peace. May the God of peace Himself keep your spirit and soul and body at rest, and grant you deep, healing sleep as you trust in Him. May you lie down in His care and wake refreshed, knowing you are held and watched over by Him. In the name of Jesus, amen.
