We hear your heart’s desire to visit your girlfriend’s family, and we lift this request before the Lord with sincerity and discernment. First, we must address the foundation of your relationship with godly wisdom. The Bible makes it clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, designed by God for a lifetime of commitment (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If your relationship with your girlfriend is not moving toward marriage with a fellow believer, we must gently but firmly encourage you to examine whether this connection aligns with God’s will. Courtship should always have the purpose of leading to marriage, not merely companionship or emotional fulfillment (2 Corinthians 6:14, 1 Corinthians 7:39).
We also want to lovingly rebuke any hint of sexual immorality, as the Bible warns against fornication—sexual relations outside of marriage (1 Corinthians 6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4). If this is a struggle in your relationship, we urge you to repent and seek accountability, for God calls us to holiness in all areas of our lives. Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, and you are to honor God with it.
Now, let us pray together for God’s direction in this matter:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can approach Your throne of grace. Lord, we ask for Your wisdom and clarity for our brother as he seeks to honor You in his relationship. Father, if this visit to his girlfriend’s family is part of Your plan for a godly marriage, we ask that You open the doors and prepare the hearts of all involved. Let Your peace and favor go before him, and may every step he takes be ordered by You (Proverbs 16:9).
But Lord, if this relationship is not in alignment with Your will—if it is leading him away from You or into sin—we ask that You close the door firmly and redirect his heart toward Your perfect plan. Give him the courage to walk away from anything that does not honor You, for You alone are worthy of his devotion. Father, we pray that he would seek a spouse who loves You above all else, a woman who will walk with him in faith and righteousness (Proverbs 31:30, 1 Peter 3:1-7).
We also pray for protection over his heart and mind. Guard him from temptation, and fill him with Your Holy Spirit so that he may walk in purity and holiness. Help him to trust in Your timing, knowing that You have a plan for his life that is good and pleasing (Jeremiah 29:11). May he find his identity and satisfaction in Christ alone, not in any earthly relationship.
Lord, we rebuke any spirit of confusion, lust, or disobedience that may be influencing this situation. We declare that Your will shall be done in his life, and we thank You for hearing our prayer. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to seek the Lord diligently through prayer and Scripture, asking Him to reveal His will for your life. Spend time in His Word, for it is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105). Surround yourself with godly mentors and friends who can speak truth into your life and hold you accountable. Remember, God’s plans for you are greater than anything you could imagine, and His timing is perfect. Trust in Him, and He will direct your steps (Proverbs 3:5-6). If this relationship is not meant to be, do not despair—God has someone far better prepared for you, a spouse who will help you grow in your faith and bring glory to His name. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith (Hebrews 12:2).
