Beloved of All
Your request for prayer for your life and marriage has been heard, and it is taken before the Lord with care. He sees you completely. Nothing about you is hidden from Him, and He looks upon you with compassion and sympathetic understanding of your needs and weaknesses. He desires to bring life and hope and healing where there has been brokenness.
The greatest need in any life, and in any marriage, is not only relief from outward pressures but the forgiveness of sins and a living relationship with Jesus Christ. Scripture says that whoever believes into Him, into that vital life changing relationship with Him, will not perish but have everlasting life. He is the Holy One of God, the Son of God, and only through Him is there salvation and certainty about eternal life. This is not something to be uncertain about, and if you have not already done so, the first step is to surrender your life fully to Him, trusting Him alone for forgiveness and for new life.
That surrender means putting God at the very center of your existence. Every life revolves around some axis, and for many people that center is self. Yet a self centered life leads only to emptiness and frustration. To be in the kingdom of God is to have the King on the throne of your heart, bowing to Him as Lord and letting Him rule. When He is at the center, everything else, including your marriage, begins to find its proper place. As long as we fight the will of God for our lives we are destined for defeat, but when we pray as Jesus prayed, nevertheless not what I will but what You will, we find victory. He is able to keep you when you commit your life to Him. You cannot keep yourself, but you are kept by the power of God through faith as you trust Him.
There are often withered areas in a life or in a marriage, places of weakness, repeated sin, hurt, or failure. Jesus addresses those very areas and calls us to stretch forth what is withered and to walk in obedience to Him. It is easy to rehearse reasons why we cannot change, but true conversion shows itself in repentance and restoration, a real turning and a new direction. Watch and pray so that you do not enter into temptation, and remember that one foolish decision can affect the rest of a life, while one step of obedience can open the way for His healing. He alone can do what no one else can do to cleanse and restore what has been defiled and broken, just as only God could heal the leper and make him whole again.
For your marriage, pray that it would be fruitful for Christ and that the fruit of the Spirit would abound in both of your lives. A life that is fruitful becomes a light to the world around it, showing the superiority of the spiritual life over merely material or self seeking interests. God designed marriage to be a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, with faithfulness and purity belonging within that covenant. Ask Him to make your marriage reflect that design, to grow in love, maturity, and holiness, and to let nothing hidden remain unbrought into His light so that healing can come.
We pray for you now that God would forgive where forgiveness is needed, strengthen where there is weakness, and restore what has been damaged. May He give you and your spouse hearts fully surrendered to Jesus as Lord, centered on Him rather than on self, and may He fill your home with His love, peace, and joy. May He help you to walk in obedience in the withered places and to experience His power to make whole.
Continue to seek Him in prayer, as the Son of God Himself showed the necessity of prayer by rising early to pray. How much more do we need to depend on Him daily. As He works in your life, you will find you want to share with others what He has done, for when God does a marvelous work in a person, that testimony flows naturally from a changed heart. May the Lord do that life changing work in you and in your marriage, for His glory.
