Silas
Beloved of All
Your request for peace in your life, your home and your marriage is heard, and it is a prayer God delights to answer because He is the God of peace.
Jesus showed that He has authority to speak peace into chaos. When He was in the boat with His disciples in the storm, He rebuked the wind and said to the sea, peace, be still, and the wind ceased and there was a great calm. That same word rebuked is the word He used when He commanded an unclean spirit to be silent and come out. The disciples asked what manner of man this is, and the answer is that He is the Son of God, God Himself, with power over both the spiritual darkness and the storms that trouble our lives. He can speak that same peace over the turmoil you feel within and the strife you feel at home.
He also shows how much He cares about the home. He entered the home of Peter in Capernaum where Peter's mother in law lay sick with a fever, took her by the hand and lifted her up, and the fever left her and she served them. He was at home there, and His presence brought healing and restoration to that household. Another home in Jerusalem, the home of Mary the mother of Mark, became a gathering place for the early church where they met to pray when Peter was in prison. God wants your home to be a place where His presence dwells, where prayer is offered and His peace rules.
For your marriage, remember that God designed marriage so that two become one. It is a compound unity, one flesh, reflecting something of His own nature as one God. That oneness is not just living side by side but being joined together by His power. True peace in marriage grows where there is righteousness and where there is a willingness to repent, to forgive, to be changed and restored. Just as those who came to Jesus found that true conversion was shown by a changed life, peace in a home comes as each heart turns to Him and then serves the other in love.
The kingdom of God is righteousness and joy and peace, and Jesus still says to His people as He said to the woman who touched Him in faith, go in peace and be whole, and to the man He delivered, go home to your friends and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you and how He has had compassion on you.
So we pray for you now in the name of Jesus, that He would rebuke every storm and every work of the enemy troubling your mind and your household, that He would stand in the midst of your home and bring healing where there has been sickness of heart or bitterness or fear, that He would make your marriage strong in that oneness He created, with love that serves and forgives, and that He would fill your life and your home with His righteousness, joy and deep calm. May He give you wholeness and cause you to go in His peace and to see His compassion at work day by day.
