You pour out your fears about blood pressure and anxiety, asking for a smooth journey and safety for your son. But look closely at what you are doing. You are like Peter, who, in the garden, let pressure of anxiety banish from his mind all the great affection Jesus had shown him. The Evangelists wrote of his fall not to accuse the disciple, but to teach us how great an evil it is not to commit all to God, but to trust to one’s self. You say you love God and love Jesus, yet here you are, overwhelmed with the very thing He warns against, clutching at a calm outcome as if it were your own to secure.

Why do you let your soul be so light, so unsteady, so fluttering? Anxiety is a tempest worse than any outward storm, puffing a person up with pleasure one moment and dragging them under the next. This is the profit of your careful planning and your plea for a straight path home? No, it is the mischief: the anxiety itself is greater than any physical danger. You are asking to be kept safe from further medical attention, but what you truly need is to be kept safe from the arrogance of thinking your will must be done. For if this work of your healing is of God, no one can overthrow it, and if it is of man, it will come to naught. Your fretting adds nothing.

You love God? Then “keep the feast” all your life by ceasing to trust in yourself. Do you not know that without shedding of blood there is no remission? The Son of God was made man for you, He freed you from death, and called you to a kingdom. How can it be less than your duty to stand firm in that, not in a demand for an easy afternoon? If your appointment leads where you do not wish, will you then think He has abandoned you? Look instead to the tender care of your Master, who, even when bound, raised Peter up by a look and launched him into a sea of tears. That is a far safer place than a road without trouble. Strip yourself of this ridiculous clothing of worldly carefulness, and you will find pure pleasure and honor that cannot be lost. Let your son’s safety be in God’s hands, not a cause for your inward self-torment. Go to your appointment, but go with your mind set on the kingdom, not on the fleeting peace of a trouble-free return.

The concern about your blood pressure and the anxiety leading into this appointment is understandable. The body can feel like a fragile vessel, and when that pressure rises, it can stir fear deep within. But remember that the very life flowing through your veins, the blood that carries such weight in your physical health, is a sacred gift. God has woven into creation a profound truth: the life of the flesh is in the blood. That is why He taught His people to hold blood in such high reverence, pointing toward something far greater than animal sacrifices. All that careful instruction was preparing the way for the blood of Jesus Christ, His own blood, which He offered to secure eternal redemption for us.

When your heart races or the numbers climb, let that physical sign remind you of a deeper reality. The blood of Jesus has already made atonement for your soul. He entered heaven itself with His own blood, once for all, and obtained a cleansing that no earthly physician can provide. Without the shedding of His blood there is no remission of sins, and because He has shed it, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Him. Your standing before God rests entirely on that finished work. That truth can be a steady anchor when your own blood pressure threatens to unsettle you. You are safe not because your body performs perfectly, but because you abide in Christ, covered by His covenant blood. As in Egypt, when the Lord saw the blood on the doorposts, He passed over in judgment; the only place of safety is inside that house. So today, the only real refuge is in Jesus. He has promised, “Abide in me.” You need not step outside that protection for a single moment.

I am praying with you that God, if it is His will, would keep those physical markers low and grant you a calm spirit so you can go straight home with no further medical intervention. But I also pray you would know a peace that is not dictated by a blood pressure cuff. God does not want your trust to come under constraint or by the pressure of fear. He loves a cheerful, confident surrender, not a grudging one. Cast the anxiety about the travel and your son onto Him. He cares for the widow and the fatherless; He will not ignore your cry for your child’s safety and happiness. While we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces, you can rest knowing that the battle for your peace has already been won at the cross. The blood of Christ speaks a better word than the accusing voices of worry.

So go to that appointment with your hand in His, knowing that your life, both temporal and eternal, is hidden with Christ. He who did not spare His own Son will certainly care for every detail of your journey there and back. And when you love Him, as you so beautifully expressed, remember that He loves you first and fully. He has counted the blood of His covenant precious, and He counts you precious in that blood. May you feel that steadfast love holding your heart rate steady and your mind at perfect peace. I am grateful you reached out, and I join my faith with yours, asking all these things in the name of Jesus, who is our great High Priest and Sacrifice.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer these past few days. It has been our honor to lift your concerns to our Heavenly Father, asking Him to steady your blood pressure and calm your anxiety according to His perfect will. We prayed earnestly for your safety and peace as you traveled to and from your appointment, and we asked the Lord to surround your son with His protection and joy.

If God has answered these prayers in the way you hoped—if your health was stable, your journey smooth, and your son kept safe and happy—we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If, however, the outcome was different or the need remains, please don’t hesitate to post again. We are here to continue praying with you, trusting in God’s timing and wisdom.

May the Lord bless you with His presence and peace as you walk in faith, knowing He hears and cares for every detail of your life. We pray all these things in the powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
