Please pray for me, my mother is speaking completely irrational deadlines with and for things she cannot control, once again trying to dictate what I should be doing with my life as far as jobs, etc., as you know I have been getting more serious with the things I personally want with my own skills, etc.

My father tries to nicely tell me to stop; it’s irrationalism at its finest…

We hear your struggle and lift this heavy burden to the Lord in prayer. It is painful when those we love try to control our lives, especially when their expectations clash with the path God is leading us toward. We know the weight of feeling torn between honoring your parents and pursuing the calling the Lord has placed on your heart. Scripture reminds us in Ephesians 6:2-3 to "honor your father and mother", which is the first commandment with a promise, "that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth." Yet we also know that our ultimate obedience must be to Christ, who said in Matthew 10:37, "He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me."

Your mother’s irrational demands and deadlines may stem from fear, love, or even her own unmet expectations, but they cannot override the plans God has for you. Proverbs 19:21 tells us, "There are many plans in a man’s heart, but Yahweh’s counsel will prevail." We must trust that the Lord is guiding you in your skills and desires, and that He will make your path clear as you seek Him first. Your father’s attempts to intervene show wisdom, irrational control is not of God, and it’s important to set boundaries with love and respect.

We also want to gently remind you that your life belongs to Christ first. If you have not already, surrender your plans, your future, and even your frustration to Him. Psalm 37:5 says, "Commit your way to Yahweh. Trust also in him, and he will do this." The Lord sees your heart, and He will honor your desire to walk in His will, even when others do not understand.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother, lifting up his heart and his family to You. Lord, You see the tension and the frustration he feels as his mother tries to control what only You can direct. We ask that You would soften her heart, Lord, and help her to release her fears and trust in Your sovereignty over her son’s life. Give her peace, Father, and help her to see the good plans You have for him.

We pray for wisdom and discernment for our brother as he seeks to honor his parents while remaining faithful to Your calling. Strengthen him, Lord, to set boundaries with love and to respond with grace, even when it is difficult. Remind him that his life is Yours, and that You will guide his steps as he seeks You first.

We rebuke the spirit of control and irrationality in this situation, Lord, and we declare that Your peace and order will reign in this home. Help this family to communicate with love and respect, and may Your will be done in each of their lives. We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who gives us the strength to walk in obedience and the grace to love even when it is hard. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Spend time in Proverbs 3:5-6, which says, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." The Lord will not leave you to navigate this alone. Lean on Him, and trust that He will make a way where there seems to be no way. If your mother’s behavior becomes abusive or deeply harmful, seek godly counsel from a pastor or trusted Christian mentor who can help you navigate this with wisdom.

You are not alone in this, and the Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you. Keep your eyes on Him, and He will lead you forward.

We’re praying for you right now, brother, and feeling the heaviness of this season with you. It’s so clear how much you’re walking through, trying to honor your mom while also feeling the pull of what God’s placing in your heart. That’s a hard tension to carry alone.

We’re asking the Lord to give you clarity as you navigate this. Help you to speak truth in love to your mom, but also to stand firm in what you know God is calling you toward. Maybe she’s just scared, or maybe she’s struggling with her own sense of purpose. Either way, we’re praying for peace in the home, for hearts to soften, and for you to feel God’s strength as you set boundaries with wisdom.

And Lord, we’re asking for your peace to settle over your father too, help him see that his love for you isn’t control, but care. Give him words to speak that honor you while also releasing his expectations into your hands.

We’re praying for you specifically as you seek your skills and passions, open doors, confirmations, and even small steps of faith. You’re not just figuring this out; God is with you every step. Let your steps be guided by His Spirit, not just your own understanding.

In Jesus’ name, we trust He’s working even in the messy parts. Keep trusting Him.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings, healing, and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

Yes my mom is very impatient with finally repainting the rooms, seriously been talking about that since the 2020 covid lockdown, I request peace and no more bad vibes, I’m so laser focused on things and this is screwing me up a bit now …

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this difficult time. It’s clear how much this situation with your mother has weighed on your heart, and we’ve been lifting you both before the Lord, asking Him to bring peace, wisdom, and understanding to your family. We’ve prayed that your mother’s heart would soften, that her words would align with God’s truth rather than fear or control, and that she would find rest in trusting Him with the details of your life. We’ve also asked the Holy Spirit to guard your heart as you pursue the path He’s placed before you, giving you confidence in His calling and protection from discouragement.

If the Lord has moved in this situation—whether through a shift in your mother’s words, a moment of unexpected peace, or clarity in your own direction—we would love to hear how He has answered. Your praise report could be such an encouragement to others walking through similar struggles. If, however, the tension remains or feels unresolved, please don’t hesitate to post this as a new request. We’re committed to continuing in prayer with you, believing that God is at work even when we can’t yet see the outcome.

Above all, we’re praying that you would sense the Father’s nearness in this season. May He remind you daily that your worth and purpose are found in Christ alone, not in the expectations of others. May He give you grace to respond with love, even when words are difficult, and may He fill your home with His presence. We’re trusting Him to bring healing, unity, and hope to your family as you all seek Him together.

In Jesus’ Name, we pray. Amen.
