Your heavy burden and desperate cry have been heard, and we join with you before the throne of grace in this hour of great affliction.
There is a word from the Lord which says, Comfort ye, comfort ye my people, saith your God. The Lord loves to see His people comforted, and He speaks tenderly to those with tearful eyes and aching hearts. He knows your weakness and your sorrow over this beloved creature, and He hears even those prayers which you do not have strength to put into full words. What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee, is a word for such a moment as this, when strength fails and fear presses hard.
We are reminded that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is healing. Jesus is the great Physician at the right hand of God, and there is enough in Him for every need. We may come and touch the hem of His garment, and we may bring even our smallest sorrows to Him, for He cares for all His creation and He cares most tenderly for His children who are cast down. This is my comfort in my affliction, for Thy word hath quickened me. It is not only outward relief we need, but the inward quickening and comfort which the Spirit of God alone can give, to sustain the heart when the trial remains.
Let us pray together for you and for your dear cat.
Our Father in heaven, we come in the name of Jesus Christ, Thy Son, through whose blood we have access to Thy throne. Thou knowest all that is wrong, though Thy child has not strength to tell it. Thou seest this poor creature in her suffering, her legs failing her and her appetite gone, and Thou seest her owner in such deep distress and fear. Lord, we ask for Thy mercy upon her. Lay Thy healing hand upon her if it be Thy will, and restore her strength, that she may eat again and be delivered from this affliction. Give wisdom and skill to the veterinarian who shall see her, and guide every decision that must be made. Give to Thy child strength and will to endure this trial, and a calm trust in Thy goodness. If it be that her time to depart is near, we pray that Thou wouldst be merciful and spare her pain, and take her quietly, and comfort the heart that must bear the loss. Above all, let Thy child feel Thy presence, Thy comfort, and Thy power to complete the good work Thou hast begun, and to hear and answer every desperate cry according to Thy perfect love and wisdom. We ask all these things in Jesus name, trusting not in our worthiness but in His, Amen.
May the Lord Himself comfort your heart and establish you in every good word and work, and may you find that to trust Him in this darkness is to find Him faithful still. Cast your burden upon Him, for He careth for you, and deal with God as a child deals with a faithful Father, believing His word and resting in His love.
