Please help

Please pray, I have lost my job, my son’s family depend on and live with me. I need help finding an income that will provide for us all and swiftly. I am close to losing my car, house, and the water and electricity will be turned off very soon. Probably before I can get a job and get arm a paycheck.

We hear your cry for help, and our hearts are heavy with the weight of your situation. You are carrying a burden that no one should have to bear alone, and we stand with you in prayer, trusting that our Heavenly Father sees your need and will provide in ways only He can. The Word of God reminds us, "Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first God’s Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well" (Matthew 6:31-33 WEB). We do not seek these things for our own comfort or gain, but so that you and your son’s family may be sustained and so that God may be glorified through His provision.

We rebuke the spirit of lack and fear that seeks to overwhelm you in this season. The enemy would love nothing more than to see you paralyzed by worry, but we declare that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7 WEB). We stand on the promise that "my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19 WEB). This is not a promise of excess or luxury, but of sufficiency, enough to meet your needs and to trust Him in the waiting.

First, we must address the urgency of your situation with both faith and practical steps. We encourage you to reach out to local churches, ministries, and community resources that may offer temporary assistance with utilities, food, or even job placement services. Many organizations exist to help those in crisis, and there is no shame in seeking help when it is needed. The Body of Christ is called to bear one another’s burdens (Galatians 6:2 WEB), and we pray that God would lead you to the right people who can provide tangible support while you seek His provision.

We also pray for wisdom as you seek employment. Proverbs 3:5-6 (WEB) tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." Ask God to open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8 WEB) and to guide you to work that not only meets your financial needs but also aligns with His purpose for your life. Whether it is a temporary job to stabilize your situation or a long-term opportunity, we pray that He would make your path clear.

In the midst of this storm, we also lift up your son’s family. It is a blessing that you have them under your roof, and we pray that this season would draw you all closer to one another and to the Lord. May they see your faith in action and be encouraged by your trust in God. We pray for unity, peace, and strength within your home, even as you face these trials together.

Now, let us come before the throne of grace on your behalf:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up our brother/sister who is in desperate need of Your provision. Lord, You see the bills that are due, the mouths that need to be fed, and the fear that threatens to overwhelm. We ask that You would move mightily on his/her behalf. Open doors of opportunity for employment, Lord, and provide the resources needed to keep the lights on, the water running, and a roof over their heads. We declare that You are Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides, and we trust in Your faithfulness.

Father, we rebuke the spirit of lack and anxiety that seeks to steal, kill, and destroy in this situation. We speak peace over our brother/sister and declare that You are their provider, their strength, and their hope. Give him/her wisdom to know where to turn for help and the courage to ask for it. Surround this family with Your love and protection, and let them feel Your presence in tangible ways.

Lord, we also pray for favor in the workplace. May employers see the value and integrity in our brother/sister and extend opportunities that will meet their needs. Provide not just a job, but the right job, one that honors You and sustains this family. And while they wait, Father, soften the hearts of those who can offer assistance, whether through financial help, food, or other resources.

We ask all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the One who has overcome the world and who intercedes for us even now. We thank You for Your faithfulness and trust that You will not abandon Your children in their time of need. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and let this trial refine them, drawing them closer to You. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises, even when the circumstances seem impossible. Remember the story of the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 (WEB), who was on the verge of losing her sons to creditors. When she cried out to Elisha, he asked her what she had in her house. She had nothing but a jar of oil. Yet, by God’s power, that oil filled every vessel she could borrow, and she was able to sell it to pay her debts. God can take what little you have and multiply it beyond what you can imagine. Trust Him with the "jar of oil" in your life, whether it is a skill, a connection, or even a small opportunity.

We also encourage you to remain in God’s Word daily. Psalm 34:10 (WEB) says, "The young lions do lack and suffer hunger, but those who seek Yahweh shall not lack any good thing." Even in the waiting, God is working. Cling to Him, and let His Word be a lamp to your feet and a light to your path (Psalm 119:105 WEB).

Lastly, we want to gently remind you of the importance of coming to God through the name of Jesus Christ. It is only through faith in Him that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18 WEB). If you have not already, we encourage you to surrender your life to Jesus, acknowledging Him as your Lord and Savior. Romans 10:9 (WEB) tells us, "that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Salvation is not just about eternal life, it is about having a relationship with the One who can sustain you in every trial. Right now, we’d encourage you to take one practical step alongside prayer: reach out to your local church or a nearby gospel-centered congregation if you don’t already have one. Many churches have deacons’ funds or a mercy ministry specifically for urgent situations like yours, help with food, utility bills, or connecting you to others who can. They may also have people inside their congregation who know of job openings or can put in a good word. You don’t have to figure this out alone, and letting others in your community bear this burden with you is not failure; it’s wisdom.

As we stand with you, we want you to know we are asking the Lord to open a door for income quickly, to steady your heart, and to protect your household in this gap between desperation and provision. We’re praying for a swift breakthrough, and for peace that sustains you as you wait.

Jesus, you see this father and provider who feels the ground shifting beneath him. You know the bills, the car, the house, and the family who depend on him. Please move in a way only you can, open a job, a source of income, or the right person to step in with tangible help. Guard this home from loss, and hold their hearts steady. Remind them that you are their refuge and their provider. In your merciful name, amen.

Suffer me a little, and I will show you that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf, even in this dark and bitter hour. You are brought very low, and the waters have come in even unto your soul. The loss of your livelihood, the prospect of losing the roof over your head, and the dear ones who depend upon you, this is a furnace heated seven times hotter. I do not make light of it, for Job himself tore his mantle and shaved his head when calamity fell. In acts of mourning we need not sin; you are allowed to weep. Your tears are potent rhetoric that can melt its way into the heart of God, who sees your secret anguish and the trembling of your hands.

But now, in this deep need, see how the Lord deals with you. That you are brought to the end of all creature-strength is, I trust, a good thing for you. It will make you feel less dependent upon an arm of flesh. Your extremity is God’s opportunity. You say you need help to find an income swiftly, and swift it must be. Yet consider: the Lord who provides for the ravens has His own times and seasons, and though the brook dries up, He has commanded a widow woman to sustain His prophet elsewhere. He is so good that He does not need defense; His claims are so clear, does He need that they should be pleaded? Yet He bends His ear to your cry. You have heard of God with the hearing of the ear, and now it is time for your eye to see Him. He is teaching you from your youth up, and this is a lesson in His school, a chastening that casts you upon Himself alone. Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, however kindly, must not interpose; you must look alone to God and honor Him only.

And what would I have you do while the waters rise? Go and do as Job did: fall down upon the ground and worship. Instead of dealing with the terror of the bills and the shutting off of the lights, spend your time in dealing with your God. Let the cry of your faith be, “You are my God.” When you have once rightly uttered this blessed sentence, God’s grace will help you to keep on saying it. There is no getting farther than this. What more does a man need? What more can a man desire? Not merely a job or a paycheck, but the God who possesses all things. The blood of Jesus Christ, God’s dear Son, cleanses from all sin; the God who justifies can also supply. Though your glory was once fresh in you and now seems withered, remember that Job, even in temporals, received at last twice as much as he had before. The lower springs shall continue to flow till you are beyond the need of them.

Yet I must press this upon you: you have yet to speak on God’s behalf. In the midst of this sore distress, your patience and resignation will be a testimony to your household and to those who watch. Let them see what religion is by watching your life. Let no rebellious speech escape your lips, for many sin by unbelieving speeches. Instead, let your patient endurance baffle the enemy, who would extract from you a charge of foolishness against God. You are God’s pupil; stay in His school. He gives the Holy Spirit to make the letter of the promise a living power to your soul. The Spirit of God must apply the Word, or no result follows. Cry for that anointing. I do trust that in this very trial you will find hope ever shining like a star which never sets, for God’s purpose is infallible, and His succor sure.

Your pain reaches my heart as though it were my own. I see you drowning in fear and that is no small thing. The threats are real: the roof, the light, the water, the very bread for your son and his little ones. It is no sin to tremble, for even the Apostle Paul knew what it was to be utterly burdened beyond strength, so that he despaired even of life itself. Yet hear this: the same God who permitted the storm to batter the ship also calmed the wind with a word. He does not sleep while you are sinking.

Pray? Yes, we will pray, and the whole church must groan with you. But I beg you, do not let this terror become your only prayer. Do not hunt after the bread as if it were the highest good, lest you lose even that. The crowd sought Christ for the loaves and were filled, but they did not see the true Bread who gives life to the world. If we despise the great gifts of His presence and His kingdom to clutch at the small ones, we often find even those small ones slipping through our fingers. Yet if we cling to Him first, if we love those heavenly things, He adds the earthly ones as a matter of course. Are they not an appendage, a shadow, compared to the light of His face? Job never clung to his possessions when he had them, nor demanded their return when they were stripped away. He held them with an open hand, and the end of the Lord was full of mercy and twice as much.

Do you ask how to hold your hand open when the sheriff is at the door? This is the very moment when humility, the mother of all virtue, does her greatest work. Pride whispers that you are entitled to ease, that this disaster is a proof God has abandoned you, that you must scramble and clutch like a man falling from a cliff. But humility says: “I have nothing that I have not received. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.” This humility is no mere groveling; it is the root of true courage. The Pharisee in the temple waved his list of achievements like a banner and fell under the weight of his own emptiness. The publican stood far off, beat his breast, and went down justified. Stand now in that place, not boasting in your former stability, but crying out: “God, I have no power of my own, no cleverness to escape, be merciful to me, a sinner.” From that posture, prayer takes fire.

And see here a mystery: the devil, who now gleefully paints pictures of your ruin, operates only by permission, like a dog on a chain. When Christ allowed the demons to enter the swine, they rushed madly down the steep place and perished in the sea. The enemy loves destruction; he wants you to feel such dismay that you will curse God and die. But observe! Even that swine-rush was turned to a greater good, the power of Christ was proclaimed, the people saw clearly what torment the demons had intended for the souls of men, and they were delivered. This trial of yours, so sharp and so sudden, has the permission of the Master who loves you beyond understanding. What the enemy means for despair, God can turn into the full display of His provision, in ways you cannot now trace. He who put a hook into Leviathan’s jaw can certainly hook for you a livelihood from a sea that looks empty.

Therefore, do not let your imagination run ahead of God’s provision. “Will we lose the house? Will the lights go dark? Will we starve?” What then? Did not Paul say, “I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound”? And how did he learn that? Not in a school, but in shipwreck, in hunger, in nakedness. You are being tutored, not destroyed. Seek first the kingdom, make that your iron resolution. Get up each morning and, before you scan the horizon for a job, bend your knee and say: “Lord, You are my true dwelling. You are my bread. Let me not trade my soul for a full belly, but fill my heart with Your Spirit, and then do with my body what seems good to You.” Pour out your heart to Him with tears, yes, but with hope. Then, with that humility, go out and knock on every door, ask every friend, take any honest labor, and trust that the God who feeds the ravens will not forget your little nest.

We will pray with groaning that a swift provision appears, yes, very swiftly, for the need is pressing. But even if the deliverance tarries, remember that the delay is not denial. The three young men in the furnace did not refuse the flames, but said, “Our God is able to deliver us… but if not, we will not bow.” Cultivate that “but if not” deep in your spirit. Hold earthly things with a light grip, and cling with both hands to Christ. If you lose all else and keep Him, you have lost nothing. And if He gives back more than was taken, as He did to His servant Job, then you will have a double testimony to His faithfulness.

Rise up, then, brother. This calamity is a threshold, not a tomb. The prayers of the saints will go up for you like a great cloud of incense. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, cease the wild calculations of panic, and watch to see what He will do. The very jaws of necessity are yawning, but He is the One who shut the mouths of lions. Be of good courage; He will not fail you.
