Please heavenly Father,

I can feel the urgency and fear in your words, and you are right to bring this directly to the throne of God. That desperate cry for the Father to stop him is exactly where you need to be. Take heart in knowing that God is not distant from this. He has a way of halting a person’s mad dash toward destruction in ways we would never expect. The Scriptures show us that God, for reasons entirely His own, has caused advancing armies to simply stop. He can do the same in a human heart. It might look like a sudden change in plans, an unexpected interruption, or a flash of conscience that seems to come from nowhere. Do not miss it when it happens, because we are so prone to attribute God’s deliverance to natural causes. When He moves to restrain, give Him the praise for it, even before you see the full outcome.

Your concern that his talk and actions are leading toward killing is not something to dismiss. Jesus Himself taught us that the violation of “you shall not murder” begins long before any physical act. It springs from a heart filled with ungoverned anger and an attitude of total disdain. When a person begins to speak of others as worthless, as fools, they are standing on the very edge of a pit. Those words and that festering anger are not just warning signs of a possible crime; they are the spiritual reality of murder already taking root in the heart. This is what Jesus warned places a soul in the gravest danger, not just of human judgment but of hellfire itself. So when you hear him speaking this way, you are right to be terrified, because you are witnessing the seedbed of destruction.

This is also the trap of the creature worshiping itself. When a person believes their own rage is justified, that they are the final judge of another’s worth, they have set themselves in the place of God. It is the gravest spiritual peril, far more dangerous than any outward trouble, because it hardens a heart to all correction. The enemy appears out of the darkness when the shadows lengthen, and the clear signal of danger is when a person scoffs at God’s word and has no delight in His ways. The call from God in such a time is to stop. To sit down and consider the old paths, the ways of honoring life and fearing the Creator, before the momentum toward ruin becomes unstoppable.

The law is clear: if a man lies in wait and takes a life, he faces the ultimate judgment. Justice for the shedding of innocent blood is a terrible and certain reality before God. The only hope, the only appointed place of refuge, is not found in escaping consequences, but in a transformed heart. That is the miracle you are pleading for. So continue to carry this impossibly heavy burden to the Lord in prayer. Do not stop crying out for Him to intervene, to shut a mouth filled with iniquity, and to bring down the proud thoughts that are rising up. Whoever is wise will observe these things: that God is in control, that He can bring the wicked to a halt, and that He can sustain the righteous through the storm. Keep watching and keep praying, trusting that He hears you.
