Heavenly Father
We hear the deep anguish in your heart over Jesse, and we join you in lifting this burden before the Lord. First, we must address a critical truth with love and clarity: once a person has passed from this life, their eternal destination is sealed. The Bible tells us in Hebrews 9:27, "Inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once, and after this, judgment." There is no biblical basis for the idea that someone can be "lifted out of hell" after death, this is why the urgency of salvation in this life is so vital.
If Jesse did not place his faith in Jesus Christ before he died, we must surrender him to God’s perfect justice and mercy, trusting that the Lord’s ways are higher than ours (Isaiah 55:8-9). However, if Jesse did know Christ, we can take comfort in the promise of John 3:16: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life." If he was a believer, he is now in the presence of the Lord, where there is no more pain or sorrow (Revelation 21:4).
We also want to gently address your request for a sign. While we understand the longing for reassurance, Scripture warns us against seeking supernatural signs outside of God’s Word. Jesus himself said in Luke 16:31, "If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead." Instead of looking for signs, we encourage you to anchor your faith in the unchanging truth of Scripture. The Holy Spirit is our Comforter (John 14:26), and He will minister to your heart in ways that align with God’s Word.

"Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up Jesse to Your sovereign care. Lord, we do not know his eternal state, but we trust in Your perfect justice and mercy. If Jesse did not know You, we pray for the peace that surpasses understanding to guard the hearts of those who grieve him. If he did know You, we rejoice that he is now in Your presence, free from pain and sorrow. Father, we ask for Your comfort to surround this dear one who is hurting. Help them to find solace in Your Word and to trust in Your goodness, even when the answers are not what we desire. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and remind them that You are close to the brokenhearted. We pray this in the mighty name of Jesus, the only name by which we are saved and through whom we have access to You. Amen."
If you do not yet know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the gift of salvation He offers. Romans 10:9 says, "If you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." This is the only way to have assurance of eternal life in heaven. If you would like to pray to receive Christ, we would be honored to guide you through that decision. Your eternity, and Jesse’s, rests in the finished work of Jesus on the cross. May the Lord draw you close to Himself in this time of grief.
