Physically, emotionally exhausted

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Father God, I feel physically and emotionally exhausted. Please surround me with your presence and fill me with your peace. Grant me peaceful, restorative sleep tonight and the strength I need for tomorrow, in Jesus name Amen

We join you in this honest prayer and we lift you up together before our Father in Jesus' name, thanking Him that you have come to Him for rest.

We hear your weariness and God hears it even more deeply. He does not expect you to carry this exhaustion alone. He invites you to bring your tired body and overwhelmed heart to Him and to exchange your burden for His peace. Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. And in Matthew 11:29-30 He promises that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. When we try to hold everything ourselves we grow faint, but He gives power to the weak and He increases the strength of him who has no might in Isaiah 40:29.

We are praying for the peaceful, restorative sleep you asked for. Scripture tells us in Psalm 127:2 that He gives sleep to his loved ones, and in Psalm 4:8, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. We pray that tonight He will quiet your mind, calm your body, and surround you with His presence so that your sleep is deep and healing. We also pray for strength for tomorrow, for the renewal that only He can give, as promised in Isaiah 40:31, But those who wait for Yahweh will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

Let us pray together.

Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this precious one who is physically and emotionally exhausted. Lord, You see the tiredness that sleep alone cannot fix, the heaviness of heart and mind. We ask You to surround them now with Your presence. Let Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus as You promise in Philippians 4:7. Forgive us when we try to be strong in our own strength and remind us to cast all our worries on You because You care for us in 1 Peter 5:7. Tonight we ask You to grant deep, uninterrupted, restorative sleep. Lay Your hand upon them, quiet every anxious thought, and let them rest in the shadow of Your wings. And for tomorrow, Father, pour out fresh strength, renewed hope, and a clear mind to face what is ahead. When my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I in Psalm 61:2. We thank You that You are that Rock and that You are our refuge. We trust You to carry what we cannot carry and to restore what is depleted. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our rest and our strength, Amen.

We encourage you to keep coming to Him simply and honestly each evening, to lay your burdens down before you sleep and to let His Word be the last voice you hear. If the exhaustion continues, please also seek wise counsel and care for your body as the temple He has given you, and allow trusted believers to help bear your burdens. He is with you in this weariness and He is faithful to renew you day by day.

We noticed the honesty in your prayer, naming both the physical and emotional weight you are carrying right now. Feeling worn down in both ways at once can make even a single night feel long, and we are grateful you brought that need directly to the Father.

We are praying with you for His nearness tonight and for the kind of sleep that truly restores, and for enough strength for what tomorrow holds. It helps to remember that rest is part of how God made us, not a sign of failure. When we are depleted, body, mind and spirit all feel it together.

If it would help tonight, you might try to protect a quiet window before bed, turning off screens and any pressing tasks a little earlier and letting your mind settle in prayer, trusting God to keep watch while you sleep. And if this exhaustion continues, it can be wise to check in with your doctor or a trusted counselor as well as continuing in prayer, just to make sure nothing physical is being missed.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. Surround them with Your peace, grant deep and restorative sleep, and renew their strength for tomorrow. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

Your cry of weariness has been brought before the Lord and we join you in prayer at the throne of grace.

Human strength, even at its best, will spend itself in due time, for all strength apart from God is derived strength and must come to an end. The Lord knows our frame and remembers that we are dust, and it is His way to give power to the faint and to them that have no might to increase strength. When the leap is too wide and the duty feels beyond you, it is right to stop a moment and breathe a prayer for more strength, for there is strength laid up for you in Christ.

We pray that the Lord will keep you in perfect peace, that peace which is not the false quiet of a conscience lulled to sleep, but the blessing of peace with God through the blood of Jesus which whispers peace within. The promise stands, You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. May you be enabled to stay your mind upon Him this night, to bear your sorrow with Him, and to find that to do His will and to rest in His keeping is rest indeed. The Lord will bless His people with peace, and that peace is present possession even with sorrows surging round.

We ask also for that peculiar sleep of the beloved, for so He gives His beloved sleep. It is the sleep of a quiet conscience made right with God, the sleep of contentment and of security under His watch. May He banish restlessness from your bed, grant you peaceful and restorative sleep tonight, and recruit your exhausted strength to fit you for fresh service when you awake. As you wait upon the Lord, you shall renew your strength, for they that wait upon the Lord shall mount up with wings, and find their strength restored as by a cool bath, a baptism into the Spirit of God.

Father, surround this weary one with Your presence and fill the heart with Your perfect peace. Grant deep, quiet, restorative sleep this night, and in the morning renew strength for the duties of tomorrow. Strengthen with strength in the Lord, as You have said, I will strengthen them, that there may be strength wisely balanced and fitly infused for each step. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our peace, Amen.
