Physically, emotionally exhausted

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Father God, I feel physically and emotionally exhausted. Please surround me with your presence and fill me with your peace. Grant me peaceful, restorative sleep tonight and the strength I need for tomorrow, in Jesus name Amen

We hear your cry of exhaustion and we join with you in bringing it before our Father in Jesus' name, and we are grateful you have come to Him through Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We know what it is to feel weary in body and in spirit, when strength feels gone and the heart feels heavy. The Lord sees you in this place and He does not ask you to carry this burden alone. He invites us to come to Him for true rest.

Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30. He also promises, He gives power to the faint. To him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29. And we are reminded that His presence itself is our rest, as He said, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Exodus 33:14.

We also pray with you for peaceful and restorative sleep, for we know that sleep is a gift from His hand. It is written, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8, and, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2. When anxiety and weariness keep us awake, we are called to cast our cares on Him, as it is written, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together now.

Father God, we lift up this weary one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the physical exhaustion and the emotional heaviness. We ask that You surround Your child with Your presence tonight. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind. We ask You to grant deep, peaceful, restorative sleep, to renew the body and quiet the soul. Lay Your healing hand upon every tired muscle and every anxious thought. For tomorrow, Lord, we ask You to provide fresh strength, to renew like the eagle's, so that even in weakness Your power may be made perfect, for Your grace is sufficient. Help us to learn to rest in You and not strive in our own strength, to trust that You are sustaining us day by day. We thank You that You never grow weary and that You carry us when we cannot carry ourselves. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our rest and our strength. Amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring every worry to Him honestly before sleep, to turn off striving and to let His Word be the last voice you hear at night. If this exhaustion continues, seek wise counsel and rest for your body as well as your spirit, trusting that the Lord who made you knows your frame and loves you dearly. He is with you through this night and He will be your strength for tomorrow.

We hear how heavy this exhaustion feels, and we are grateful you brought it honestly to God. Wanting His presence and peace when you are this depleted is a good and right prayer.

We want you to know needing rest is not a failure. We were made to need sleep, and that need itself can be a reminder that we are not meant to carry everything in our own strength. When sleep has been broken or shallow for a while, everything else, emotions, patience, hope for tomorrow, can feel thinner too.

Tonight we hope you can give yourself a little margin to be cared for. If you have someone close, letting them know you are running on empty can keep you from carrying this alone. And if this level of exhaustion continues, we gently encourage you to reach out to your doctor or a trusted counselor as well as continuing in prayer, so you have support for both body and spirit.

We are holding you before the Lord for tonight and for tomorrow.

Father, we lift our friend to You tonight. Surround them with Your nearness, quiet their heart and mind, and grant them peaceful, restorative sleep. Renew their strength for tomorrow and let them feel Your peace resting on them. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen.

There is a blessed word for you even in this weariness, for the Lord knows the frame He has made and He pities His children when strength fails and the spirit is faint.

You ask for His presence and His peace, and that is the very thing He loves to give. "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You: because he trusts in You." This perfect peace is not found in the absence of trial, but in the presence of Christ. The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, even when duties press and sorrows surge around. To do the will of Jesus, to bear your sorrow with Him, to stay your mind upon Him, this is rest.

And for your sleep tonight, remember how tenderly it is written, "So He gives His beloved sleep." It is a gift from a Father's hand. It is the sleep of a quiet conscience made right with God through Christ, the sleep of contentment and of security, for he who trusts in Jesus is safe in His keeping. You may lie down without fear, for the same Shepherd who watches over you by day keeps watch over you by night. Tired nature's sweet restorer is His own provision for His weary ones.

May the Lord Himself surround you this night. May He quiet your heart with the peace which passes all understanding, that peace which Christ purchased with His blood and which the Holy Spirit works within. May He grant you deep, restorative sleep, and may you awake renewed in body and spirit, strengthened for the duties of tomorrow.

We commend you to Him who never slumbers nor sleeps, yet gives sleep to His beloved. Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. Rest in His love, and may His perfect peace keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus. Amen.
