We hear your cry of exhaustion and we join with you in bringing it before our Father in Jesus' name, and we are grateful you have come to Him through Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.
We know what it is to feel weary in body and in spirit, when strength feels gone and the heart feels heavy. The Lord sees you in this place and He does not ask you to carry this burden alone. He invites us to come to Him for true rest.
Jesus says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30. He also promises, He gives power to the faint. To him who has no might he increases strength. Isaiah 40:29. And we are reminded that His presence itself is our rest, as He said, My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest. Exodus 33:14.
We also pray with you for peaceful and restorative sleep, for we know that sleep is a gift from His hand. It is written, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. Psalm 4:8, and, for he gives sleep to his loved ones. Psalm 127:2. When anxiety and weariness keep us awake, we are called to cast our cares on Him, as it is written, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7.
We pray together now.
Father God, we lift up this weary one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. You see the physical exhaustion and the emotional heaviness. We ask that You surround Your child with Your presence tonight. Let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind. We ask You to grant deep, peaceful, restorative sleep, to renew the body and quiet the soul. Lay Your healing hand upon every tired muscle and every anxious thought. For tomorrow, Lord, we ask You to provide fresh strength, to renew like the eagle's, so that even in weakness Your power may be made perfect, for Your grace is sufficient. Help us to learn to rest in You and not strive in our own strength, to trust that You are sustaining us day by day. We thank You that You never grow weary and that You carry us when we cannot carry ourselves. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our rest and our strength. Amen.
We encourage you to continue to bring every worry to Him honestly before sleep, to turn off striving and to let His Word be the last voice you hear at night. If this exhaustion continues, seek wise counsel and rest for your body as well as your spirit, trusting that the Lord who made you knows your frame and loves you dearly. He is with you through this night and He will be your strength for tomorrow.
