Peaceful sleep

We join you together in this prayer for peaceful sleep and for the dissolving of stress and anxiety, and we thank you for coming to the Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus.
We know how heavy the mind can feel at night when thoughts keep turning, and we are reminded that God invites us to bring every care to Him. Scripture tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We are also told to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us 1 Peter 5:7.
Our Father loves to give rest to His children. It is written, In vain you rise up early and stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones Psalm 127:2. And again, I will both lay me down and sleep in peace, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety Psalm 4:8. When we lie down, we need not be afraid, yes, we will lie down, and our sleep will be sweet Proverbs 3:24. He keeps in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on Him, because they trust in Him Isaiah 26:3.
We take comfort that you prayed in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and peace with God, as Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus and we thank You for Your love and Your constant care for us. We ask You to dissolve every thought of stress and anxiety that troubles our hearts and minds, especially in the quiet hours of the night. We cast all these cares upon You, trusting that You care deeply for us. Grant peaceful, deep and restoring sleep, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus. Quiet our minds, calm our spirits, and let us lie down in peace and safety, knowing that You alone watch over us. Renew our strength as we rest, so we may awake refreshed to serve You and walk in Your will. We thank You Father for all You do for us, for Your mercy that is new every morning and for the rest You so graciously give to Your beloved. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.

Your coming to the Heavenly Father with this request is itself a wise and blessed thing, for sleep is not merely the shutting of the eyes but the gift of God. We think that we lay our heads upon our pillows and therefore we must sleep, but it is not so, for so he giveth his beloved sleep. It is the Lord who must dissolve the thoughts that crowd upon the mind and give that sleep of contentment and of security which belongs to those who rest in Him.
You ask that thoughts of stress and anxiety might be dissolved, and herein you seek what Scripture itself commands. Anxiety has never brought comfort to any, nor has it brought any grist to the mill. I have found by my own experience and by observation of others that the very anxiety which arises through our being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. What is the good of it if it does not pay. Rather we are bidden to be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving to let our requests be made known unto God, and to cast all our care upon Him, for He careth for us.
