Peaceful sleep

We join with you in this prayer for peaceful sleep and for the Lord to dissolve all stress and anxiety, and we thank you for praying in the precious name of Jesus, for it is through Him we have access to the Father.
We know how heavy anxious thoughts can feel at night when the mind will not rest, but Scripture reminds us that true peace and rest come from the Lord. We are told in Philippians 4:6-7, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. And again in 1 Peter 5:7, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.
Our Father delights to give His children rest. It is written in Psalm 4:8, In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety. And in Proverbs 3:24, When you lie down, you will not be afraid. Yes, you will lie down, and your sleep will be sweet. Jesus Himself invites us in Matthew 11:28, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.
We encourage you to continue to bring every anxious thought to Him before you sleep, to thank Him even in the night, and to meditate on His promises rather than the worries of the day. As you lie down, fix your mind on His faithfulness and His care for you.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together and we thank You for Your constant love and care for us. We ask You to dissolve every thought of stress and anxiety that troubles our brother or sister, and to replace it with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus tonight. Help them to cast every worry upon You, knowing that You care for them deeply. We pray that You would grant them peaceful, sweet, and restorative sleep, for You give sleep to Your beloved. Let them lie down in safety under Your watchful eye and wake refreshed to serve You. We thank You Father for all You do for us, for Your mercy that is new every morning. We pray this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, Amen.

Your prayer for peaceful sleep is heard, and it is good that you have brought this burden to the Father in the name of Jesus.
Sleep is the gift of God. We think that we lay our heads upon our pillows and compose our bodies in a peaceful posture and therefore we naturally and necessarily sleep. But it is not so. It is the Lord who must give it, for so it is written, So he giveth his beloved sleep. It is a sleep of contentment and a sleep of security which the Christian enjoys, not because his troubles have vanished, but because he rests in the keeping of One who neither slumbers nor sleeps.
You ask that thoughts of stress and anxiety might be dissolved, and this is a wise petition. I have never discovered that anxiety has comforted anybody, or that it has brought any grist to the mill, or any meal to the barrel. If a thing does not pay, what is the good of it. The very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty. Be not therefore anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
He knows you altogether. He knows that sick body, that aching head, that timidity, that anxiety, that constitutional depression, he knows it all. As his secret is with you, so your secret is with him. Your heart knoweth its own bitterness, but he knoweth it also, and he inviteth you to cast all your care upon him, for he careth for you.
May the Lord now grant you that balmy sleep which is tired nature's sweet restorer. May he quiet your mind, still your thoughts, and keep your heart and mind through Christ Jesus, that peace which passeth all understanding. Lay your head upon the pillow as upon the promise, and trust him to watch over you through the night.

God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
