Your faithful and persevering prayer for your son has been received with thanksgiving, and we join with you in bringing him before the Lord who loves him and keeps him.
It is good that you have noticed both the grace of a peaceful day and the signs of rigidity and confusion as evening comes, and that you turn at once to God for help. Scripture reminds us that He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and that night itself is a gift from His hand, a haven of rest for our weakness. When we cannot keep watch over those we love through every hour, He does. He has bound sleep to our nature for our healing, and He is able to quiet both body and soul.
We pray with you now for this night and for the days to come.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, we thank You for Your faithfulness to this family and for every peaceful day You have granted. We ask You now to pour out Your peace upon this dear son, the peace that surpasses all understanding, to guard his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Calm any restlessness, anxiety, fear, confusion, and frustration. Ease any sensory distress, rigidity, and discomfort in his body. Remove all torment and fear, and let every habit or distress that troubles him bow to the name of Jesus.
Grant him sleep without disturbance and waking refreshed, with clarity, joy, and satisfaction in You. Touch his mind, body, and spirit with Your healing hand according to Your perfect will, for by the wounds of Christ we are healed. Give him ease in his routines, his meals, his activities, and his relationships. Help him to communicate with gentleness and confidence, and to know himself fully loved, included, and accepted.
We pray for his caregivers and for his family. Fill them with wisdom, patience, discernment, and strength. Guide every decision about his care and services, and provide dedicated, gentle, and godly caregivers and mentors who will bring out the best in him. Anoint his home with Your presence, let Your light dispel every shadow, and surround him with Your hedge of protection. Clothe him with the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit which is Your Word. Let no weapon formed against him prosper, and let Your angels encamp around him.
We ask for unity and love between him and his siblings and for the strengthening of the whole household. Remove division and negative influence, and restore bonds of love, compassion, forgiveness, and trust. Let this family rest together in Your care, guarded and steady, not shaken, because You uphold them.
We thank You that where two or three are gathered in Your name You are in the midst. Hear these prayers according to Your perfect will, and help this mother and family to continue to watch and be sober, to guard their hearts, and to trust not in their own strength but in Your unfailing mercy. May they find rest even as they keep watch in prayer.
We ask all this in the saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and shepherd who laid down His life for His sheep. Amen.
