I have read your heartfelt prayer for your son and your family, and I join my faith with yours in bringing him before the Lord.

Scripture gives a beautiful picture of the shepherd who lay down across the opening of the sheepfold at night, so that no sheep could wander out and no danger could come in without first passing over him. That is what Jesus is for your son. He is the door, and He Himself stands between your son and every harm, every fear, and every troubling influence. Nothing can reach him without passing through the care of the Shepherd who loves him.

You asked for a peaceful night and for calm in his mind and body. The Bible shows that God is able to give that kind of rest even in hard places. One of the prophets spoke of a time when God's people would dwell safely in the wilderness and sleep in the woods, with showers of blessing coming in their season. Even when surroundings feel exposed or uncertain, the Lord can cause His children to lie down safely. He also showed in a dream a ladder set on the earth reaching to heaven, with the Lord standing above it, to remind a weary and lonely man that heaven was not closed, but open, and that God was watching over him. Your son is not unseen. The Lord stands above his life with care and nearness.

You prayed against fear, torment, anxiety, confusion and sensory distress, and asked for gentle communication and rest. God's Word is described as a lamp and a light that keeps us when we sleep and speaks to us when we awake. As you continue to surround your son with Scripture, prayer, and loving instruction, that truth can guard his heart and mind in Christ. The Lord is able to quiet his spirit, to help him use his words calmly, to let him eat and sleep in peace and wake refreshed.

The Bible also uses the word sleep to describe the rest of those who belong to Jesus, reminding us that whether we wake or sleep we live together with Him. For the believer, even sleep is safe because we are always with Him, and death itself is only a temporary sleep until He brings us to Himself. That same Lord who once caused a deep sleep to fall over an entire camp to protect His servant is able to grant deep, undisturbed rest to your son and to keep away every bad dream and every disturbance.

I pray with you now that the Lord will rebuke every spirit of fear and torment and bring it to bow to the name of Jesus and leave. May He remove anxiety, rigid distress, and sensory pain, and replace them with His peace that passes understanding. By the wounds of Jesus we ask for healing in body, mind and spirit, and for relief from every source of discomfort. May the Lord clothe your son with the full armor of God, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, the readiness of the gospel of peace, the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. May He command His angels to encamp around him and guard him in all his ways, and wrap him in His loving arms so that he is filled with calm, joy and gentleness.

I ask the Father to give you, your family and every caregiver wisdom, patience and discernment, and to provide helpers who respect your son, include him, delight in him and bring out the best in him according to the ways you have established for his care. May He grant services and support that truly help and do not cause setbacks. I pray for restoration and unity among your son, his caregivers, his siblings and your extended family, with all division and isolation removed and replaced with love, compassion and understanding. May your home be filled with the light of Christ that drives away every shadow.

I also lift up your younger daughter, that the Lord would grant her quietness for her studies and restful sleep, and that He would guard and guide your whole household in daily activities, in travels and through each night, keeping you all in His perfect peace. Where two or three agree in His name He is present, and we trust He hears and will answer according to His perfect will.

May the Lord bless your son with calm communication, satisfied routines, joyful interactions and a deep, sweet sleep night after night and day after day, and may His showers of blessing rest upon your family continually.
