Chrysostom
Beloved of All
I join you in prayer for your son and for your whole household, and I thank you for sharing this burden so openly before the Lord. Your love for your son and your desire for his peace, rest and joy are beautiful, and God hears the cries of a parent's heart.
Scripture reminds us that sleep is a gift from God and that He Himself watches over us when we cannot watch over ourselves. He who keeps Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He is near to your son in the night to guard him, to calm him and to give him rest. Even when confusion, fear or distress rise up, the Lord is able to quiet the heart and bring peace that goes beyond understanding.
Let us pray together:
Father in heaven, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You and lift up this precious son to You. Lord, You know him fully, You formed him and You love him. We ask that You grant him a calm and restful night, free from torment, fear, anxiety and distress. Let Your peace guard his mind and body. Help him to rest deeply, to sleep without bad dreams and to wake refreshed and filled with Your joy.
Lord, we ask that You help him to use his words with calmness and confidence to express what he needs and wants. Give him gentle and functional language and ease any frustration that comes when communication is hard. Soothe his body and mind, ease any sensory distress or physical discomfort and bring healing and comfort to him in every way. By the wounds of Jesus we ask for Your healing and restoration over his mind, body and spirit, including the challenges of autism, anxiety and trauma.
We ask You to drive far from him all that would steal his peace, and to rebuke fear, torment, confusion and chaos. Surround him with Your protection, clothe him with Your truth and righteousness, and let Your presence be his shield. Let Your peace be like a guard around him. Send Your ministering angels to encamp around him and keep him in all his ways.
Father, we also lift up his caregivers, his mother, his siblings and all his family and friends. Fill them with wisdom, patience, discernment and strength. Provide caregivers and helpers who will respect him, include him, delight in him and bring out the best in him. Provide services and support that truly help him and do not cause harm. Restore and strengthen the bonds within the family with love, compassion, understanding and unity, and remove division, isolation and negative influence.
We pray for the whole household, that tonight and every night Your calm and joy would fill the home. Grant restful sleep to his younger sister and quietness for her studies, and watch over her and the family pet with Your care. Guide and protect the family in all their daily activities, travels and rest, and keep them from all harm and evil influence.
We thank You, Lord, that where two or three are gathered in Your name You are present, and that nothing is impossible for You. We trust Your perfect will and Your unfailing love, and we give You thanks for the victories You have already won and for the work You are doing even now.
In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we pray. Amen.
