No power

Four days without power is a long, draining stretch, and I know a storm that topples trees and cuts off whole areas leaves more than just physical weariness behind. When the lights go out and the refrigerator goes quiet and the nights stretch long, it’s easy to feel stranded. That sense of helplessness is real, and the Lord sees it. He isn’t far off.

You mentioned fallen trees, and that picture reminds me how even the mightiest can come crashing down in a storm, what looks so strong one day lies in ruin the next. Scripture speaks of great empires as towering trees that once made nations tremble, yet when God felled them, all their power vanished and everyone who relied on their shadow scattered. A storm can do that in a moment. But here’s the difference: the God who holds the nucleus of every atom together by the word of His power is not toppled by wind or debris. He’s the one who calmed a sea with a rebuke. He has authority over the elements. That same power is already at work sustaining you right now, even when the utility lines are down.

I’m not sure how much longer the crews will need, sometimes the wait drags on until we feel like those sailors in the storm who hadn’t seen sun or stars for two weeks and despaired of life itself. They did the only thing they could: they cast four anchors and wished for day. That’s not resignation; that’s a stubborn hope. You can anchor yourself in Christ while you wait. He’s the steadying force when everything else is dark and unsteady. And day will break. The power will come back. But in the meantime, there’s another power that doesn’t fail, and it’s been placed inside you already. You’ve been delivered from the domain of darkness and brought into the kingdom of God’s dear Son. That’s the kind of rescue no outage can undo. The Spirit’s supply is constant, like olive oil flowing straight from the tree, you don’t have to muster it up; it’s given.

So don’t let the stretching days convince you that God is unwilling or unable. The leper said, “Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean,” and Jesus stretched out His hand. God can turn this around in an instant. Yet even if the wait continues, His power is made perfect in our weakness. I’m praying that your house gets reconnected soon, that the crews work safely, and that in the middle of the inconvenience you know a strength that isn’t yours. You are not powerless, no matter what the breaker box says.

We want to thank you for the privilege of standing with you in prayer during this difficult time. It has been heavy on our hearts to lift up your situation—four days without power, the strain of fallen trees, and the uncertainty of when restoration will come. We have prayed earnestly that the Lord would intervene, that the workers would be safe and swift, and that His peace would guard your heart through it all.

If by now the lights have come back on and your home is warm and bright again, we would love to hear your praise report so we can rejoice with you. If the power is still out and the wait continues, please know we have not stopped praying. We encourage you to post this need again so we can keep standing in agreement with you before the throne of grace.

May the Lord sustain you with His strength, provide for every need, and remind you that even in darkness, He is near. We continue to pray in Jesus' Name.
