No power

Beloved of All
Lord I have not have power at my house for 4 days now going on 5 , please have the power come in soon, had a bad storm that caused a lot of fallen trees and power to be off everywhere. ###. Thank you lord

We hear your distress and frustration as you endure this trial without power for nearly five days. The inconvenience and discomfort of such a situation are real, and we stand with you in seeking the Lord’s mercy and provision. Storms, both physical and spiritual, can leave us feeling powerless, but we know that our God is sovereign over all creation, including the forces of nature and the systems of man.

The Bible reminds us in Psalm 121:1-2, "I will lift up my eyes to the hills. Where does my help come from? My help comes from Yahweh, who made heaven and earth." Even in this hardship, we can trust that the Lord sees your need and is able to restore what has been disrupted. We also recall the words of Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." You are not forgotten, and your struggle is not unseen.

We must also encourage you to examine your heart in this trial. Are you leaning fully on the Lord, or has frustration or despair begun to take root? James 1:2-4 tells us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." This season, though difficult, is an opportunity to grow in patience, trust, and dependence on God.

Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister who has been without power for these many days. Lord, You are the Creator of heaven and earth, and nothing is too hard for You. We ask that You would move swiftly to restore power to their home and community. Give wisdom and strength to those working to repair the damage, and protect them as they labor in difficult conditions.

Father, we pray for patience and peace in this trial. Help them to trust in You fully, knowing that You are their provider and sustainer. Guard their hearts from frustration, anxiety, or bitterness, and fill them instead with Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who have a contrite spirit.

Lord, we also ask for practical provision during this time. If there are needs for food, shelter, or safety, we pray You would meet them according to Your riches in glory. Surround them with Your angels for protection and comfort.

We rebuke any spirit of despair or hopelessness that may be trying to take hold, and we declare that this situation will not overwhelm them. Instead, let it draw them closer to You. We thank You for Your faithfulness, even when we cannot see the outcome. May this trial produce endurance, character, and hope in their life, and may Your name be glorified through it all.

In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in this time. Reach out to your local church or community for support if you need it, God often provides through the hands and hearts of His people. Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and remember that this season, like all seasons, is temporary. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Stand firm in faith, and trust that He will see you through.

We’re thinking of you as you go into a fifth day without power, that’s a long stretch, and the weariness of it is real. After a storm like that, with trees down and damage everywhere, you’re not just waiting on a utility; you’re living through the mess and the daily scramble. We’re sorry you’re still stuck in it.

A couple of things that might help, if you haven’t already: be sure the outage is reported to your power company so they have your address in the queue, and check on any neighbors who might be struggling alone, sometimes the hardest part is feeling isolated when the lights are out. Also, if the restoration timeline keeps pushing out, your county or town may have a cooling center or a place to charge devices; a quick call to their non-emergency line could turn up something.

But mostly we just want you to know you aren’t forgotten. You thanked the Lord even while asking, and that says a lot about your heart. We’re praying right now that crews finish their work safely and quickly, that your home has power again soon, and that you’ll have the patience and grit to get through another day if it takes longer.

Lord Jesus, you know the weariness of going without something so basic. Please restore power to this household without further delay, and keep them safe and steady in the waiting. Thank you for the helpers out in the field. Give them strength and good progress tonight. In your name we ask it.

The storm has come with its fallen trees and darkened days, yet remember that all power emanates from God, be it what it may; He is the source and fountain of all the forces which operate throughout creation. The lightning and the wind are in His hand, and not a branch falls but by His wise ordination. This forced pause in your household, four days now stretching toward five, may feel to you a heavy contradiction, a trial of patience, but the Lord has not relinquished His throne. Indeed, the doctrine of Divine Sovereignty becomes most comforting when our outward comforts are stripped away. When we see our own powerlessness, we learn to cease from frantic striving and look to Him alone who says, "Thus says the Lord, let My people go, that they may serve Me", go free from anxiety, free from murmuring, free from the slavery of an impatient spirit.

And what is required in this season but a fresh sense of the Divine Presence, which alone dissolves difficulties? You hope for the restoration of electric current, yet far more needful is the quickening power of the Holy Spirit to sustain your inward man. The Lord has been pleased from the beginning to determine that His power shall usually go forth in certain ways and under fixed laws, and He may well restore the physical power soon; but meanwhile, He would strengthen you with might in the inner being. Do not be afraid of the Sovereignty and Omnipotence of Divine Grace, but look to it as the last resource of a broken-down spirit. When natural energy fails and the machines are silent, there is a voice that speaks peace to the heart of His child. His power is not bound by fallen limbs or tangled wires; He can work miracles today if He pleases, He could divide the Atlantic as easily as He did the Red Sea!

Yet more than outward rescue, learn the Divine purpose in this discipline. As the eagle stirs up her nest and flutters over her young, so the Lord uses these upsets to teach us to fly. How much patience and gentleness God has had with us in suiting truth to our understandings, and how often He tears away our comforts only to bind us closer to Himself! If you could read the whole of this in the light of eternity, you would bless the hand that for a few dark evenings has drawn you to the secret of His tabernacle. Consider Him who endured the contradiction of sinners against Himself, lest you grow weary and faint in your mind. The impetuous wind that tore the trees has not torn His covenant; His mercies have not been uprooted. Stand still and see the salvation of God.

Let patience have its perfect work. You have heard of the patience of Job, who endured up to the very end, and you have seen the end of the Lord, that He is full of pity and of tender mercy. Yield yourself to Him afresh. Lay hold upon His promise, "I will strengthen them in the Lord," and find that even now He comes to you with a power that restores life to dead souls and peace to troubled ones. The very inability you feel is the porch through which His strength will enter. May the Divine Spirit plant in you that sweet flower of patience, and soon may the Lord command these impediments to be removed, not as a mere convenience, but as a fresh witness that He hears the cry of His own.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

What a tempest you have endured, four days without the comforts of home, the darkness pressing in, the storm’s wreckage all around. Yet do not imagine Christ is absent; He who once walked upon the raging sea and stilled the wind with a word is not far from you now. The very storm that knocked down trees and cut the power was allowed, not because He lacks care, but that you might seek Him more earnestly. When our Lord permitted the waves to toss the boat, His disciples were terrified, but His purpose was to reveal His might. He went not up into the ship at first, so the marvel would be greater, so they would see His Godhead clearly when the calm came. Your present trial is no different. He is testing your soul, building something far greater than restored electricity: a patience that can endure any gale.

Do you know the real power you need? Not merely to flip a switch and see lights return, but the inward strength to bear this with a steady heart. The Apostle Paul pleaded with his spiritual children not to compel him to use his authority, but to choose the better way themselves. So I urge you now: do not let this hardship compel a bitter spirit, but choose to see in it an opportunity. The soul can become a kind of heaven, bright and unchanged, even when the storms of life gather. Heaven is not made black by the clouds that cover it; the clouds pass, but its nature remains luminous. You have the Sun of Righteousness within you if you cling to Christ. Let no tribulation, no fallen tree, no cold night darken your inner peace.

Now is the school of patience. The Scriptures were written that you might have hope, and hope produces patience, and patience sustains hope. This is not a passive waiting but an active warfare. You war not with the power company or the weather, but with the impulse to despair, to curse, to doubt. Endure as Christ endured. He suffered the extremes of hunger, thirst, and death with patience, not because He lacked power to change it, oh, He had power beyond all imagining, but because He entrusted Himself to the Father. You, too, have a power to draw upon, a gracious influence from above. You cannot bear even this moderate trial by your own strength; ask for the aid, and you will find it sufficient.

So pray, yes, but pray not only for the lines to be repaired. Pray, “Lord, let this darkness teach me to worship Thee without earthly comforts. Let the cold make me warm toward my neighbor. Calm the storm within my heart while the outward storm persists.” When you do this, you transform your house into a sanctuary where no power outage can interrupt true worship. The body may shiver, but the spirit stands in a steady light. Remember, the tempest will pass. The calamity that seems so enormous now will one day be so small in the rearview of eternity. And when the lights do return, as they shall in God’s time, receive them not as a mere convenience but as a sign of His faithfulness, a reminder that He who orders the winds and the currents of the air also numbers the hairs of your head and the days of your trial. In the meantime, be patient. Wait for the Lord.
