Our power is out and the temp is in the 90s

Please pray that God allows our power to come back in about 3 or 4 hours like they said. Our home is not showing up on the power outage map and the last time this we had no power for 3 days. I'm scared. It's in the 90 degrees outside right now. Thank you so much and God bless you. I ask in the name of Jesus. ###

We come before the Lord with hearts full of concern for you in this difficult situation. The heat can be overwhelming, and the uncertainty of not knowing when the power will return is understandably frightening. We lift you up in prayer, trusting that our Heavenly Father hears and answers according to His perfect will.

Father God, we ask You to intervene in this situation. You are the God who calms storms and provides shelter in the midst of life’s trials. We pray that You would restore the power quickly, as the utility workers have indicated. Lord, we know that You are in control of all things, and we ask for Your mercy and grace to sustain this family during this time. Provide them with comfort, peace, and the strength to endure until the power is restored. If it is Your will, let the power come back within the next few hours, but if not, give them the patience and resources to manage this trial with faith and trust in You.

We also pray for wisdom for those working to restore the power. Guide their hands and minds, Lord, and protect them as they work to bring relief to this family and others affected. Surround this home with Your presence, Father, so that even in the heat, they may feel Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

We are reminded of Your promise in Isaiah 41:10, "Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness." Lord, we claim this promise over this family. Uphold them with Your righteous right hand, and let them feel Your nearness in this time of need.

We also encourage you to take practical steps to stay safe and cool. If possible, seek out a cooler location, such as a community center or a neighbor’s home with power. Stay hydrated, and check on one another to ensure everyone is coping well with the heat. Remember, God often works through the hands and feet of His people, so don’t hesitate to reach out to others for help if needed.

Lastly, we want to remind you that trials like these are opportunities to grow in faith and trust in the Lord. James 1:2-4 tells us, "Count it all joy, my brothers, when you fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let endurance have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing." Though this situation is challenging, God is using it to refine your faith and draw you closer to Him. Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is working all things together for your good.

We continue to pray for you and stand with you in this time of need. May the Lord bless you with His peace, provision, and protection. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

The living God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, has not forgotten the house where His child dwells, though it be hidden from the map of men. It is written, "He who trusts in the Lord, happy is he," and this happiness is not for sunny days alone but for the stifling heat when the breath of the wind fails. You are not idle; you have acted with prudence, and now the moment calls for that simple, entire reliance upon Him who works all things after the counsel of His will. Shall the God who made the heavens and the earth fail to order the circuits of a power line? Surely not. Commit this trial into His hands, and in that act of trust find the first cooling breeze of His peace.

Fear has torment, and I hear its whisper in your heart, but an assured confidence in the goodness of God casts out fear. You are not come to a dead idol, deaf and unmoving, but to the living God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways. Did He not see your home before the outage map existed? Does He not number the very hairs of your head? The godless world may tremble at impersonal powers and chance, but you, having trusted in Jesus Christ, are bold to say you sit beneath the shadow of the Almighty. Let not the memory of three dark days overshadow the present hour; His mercies are new every morning, and His compassions fail not. He may send the power in three hours, or He may give you grace to endure longer, but in either case He is working for your good.

Remember what it is to trust in the living God, the God who is self-existent, who borrows nothing from electric grids or cooling winds, but who adds to your strength when outward comforts are withdrawn. When Ziklag was burned and all seemed lost, David encouraged himself in the Lord his God. So do likewise. Tell Him, "My Father, You know the heat of this day and the fears of my heart. I trust You, not my own feelings or the promises of men, but the faithful Creator." Such simple faith is the channel by which power with God flows down to your necessity. It is not the might of your prayer but the might of His Son in whom you pray that prevails. Christ Himself is the power of God, and you are in Him.

Give your heart anew to God in this trial. Let not the enemy rob you of peace or drive you to questioning the love of Him who spared not His own Son. Is it a small thing for the Almighty to sustain the frame in ninety degrees if He has already quenched the furnace of His wrath with the blood of the Lamb? No, the greater deliverance guarantees the lesser. You have given Him your heart; now leave your fear at His feet as well. Come to Him now, not waiting for a sign or a feeling, but resting solely on His Word and character. He who planted the ear, shall He not hear? He who formed the eye, shall He not see the sweat upon your brow and the anxiety within your breast?

I commend you to a life of trust in temporal things, for then you will not be driven to sinful fretting or the world's vain methods of escape. The heat will pass, the power will return, but the sweetness of God's manifest presence learned in the furnace is a treasure no thief can steal. Praying that His peace, which passeth all understanding, shall garrison your heart and mind through Christ Jesus, and that even in this discomfort your spirit may sing because Jehovah has spoken and will not lie to His child.

You speak of being afraid, yet consider this: if God is mighty, and the Son is His beloved, why should you fear these temporary discomforts? The voice from heaven declared Christ beloved, and this was spoken precisely to drive out fear from trembling hearts. The heat and the darkness are not powers in themselves; an idol is nothing, and so it is with these passing trials. They have no ultimate ability to harm you, unless you grant them power through your own terror.

Do not fix your gaze so intently on the physical fear of the heat that you forget what is truly fearful. At Mount Sinai, the people were so terrified by the fire and the voice that even Moses, who entered the darkness where God was, said, “I exceedingly fear and quake.” Yet that was a fire that could be touched. How much more should we stand in awe of God, who is a consuming fire? The true dread is not the temperature of your house, but the state of your soul before Him. I would have you fear and tremble, not over the failure of an electrical map, but over whether your mind is being corrupted from the simplicity that is toward Christ.

The ability for your power to return lies in God’s gracious influence, a power which we draw down by our own will. Your will is not passive in this. Instead of allowing your mind to be seized by the memory of those three days, turn your will to lay hold of a greater truth. The Body that was crucified burst the prison of hell and shattered gates of brass; do you think the gates of your locked house and the slow work of a utility crew are a harder thing for Him? The keepers of hell-gate cowered in fear when He arose. Let not your heart cower before a darkened home, but let your fear be a jealousy for God, a trembling lest you compel Him, through your lack of faith, to see you as carnal and holding His power cheap.

I speak these things, though no one hear, so that if you receive them, you gain the benefit of progress, and I do not cast seeds by the wayside. Do not look only to the wicked purpose of your fear, as though by being disquieted you will succeed; this is a mark of extreme folly. Even when Christ lay in the tomb, His enemies seized Him by placing a seal, a stone, and a watch, yet they could not hold Him. Their very care proved His resurrection. So also, the more this situation dismays you, the greater opportunity you have to prove the resurrection power at work in your life by remaining steadfast.

Account the heat nothing to be feared, and it will not be a matter for fear. This terror is not in the nature of the thing, but in the judgment of feeble-minded men. If you practice self-command, this trial can become a fountain of countless blessings. If one were to offer you a choice between the luxury of a cool home and the discipline of this heated moment, a wise soul who knew the beauty of the latter would seize it. It is no sign of low birth, but the truest nobility, to understand how to lower ourselves under the mighty hand of God, to be unassuming, and to give way to His perfect timing, serving Him with fear and trembling in singleness of heart.

I hear the fear in your words, and it is not hard to understand. When the temperature climbs into the 90s and the house grows still, the memory of three days without power rises up and grips the heart. It is one thing to know the stories of God's faithfulness in the past; it is quite another to sit in the oven-like heat and wonder when relief will come. Yet it is exactly in these moments that the Lord invites us to trust not in what we can see or control but in His power to make a way when there is no way.

What seems like an impossible situation to us is never impossible for Him. You mentioned that your home is not even showing up on the outage map. That detail feels like an overlooked, forgotten thing, but it is not hidden from God. Sometimes He allows the problem to slip past every human system so that when the deliverance comes, we know beyond any doubt that His hand alone accomplished it. The temptation is to panic and try to solve it all by sheer worry, yet the same God who parted the sea is fully aware of your house right now.

The heat and the darkness may feel overwhelming, but they are not outside the boundary of His authority. Even when the enemy whispers that you have been forgotten, remember that the ultimate shelter has always been the blood of the Lamb, a seal over your life that no physical discomfort can break. God is using even this to deepen your roots. In the desert, the people learned that He could provide water from a rock; in your stuffy home, He wants to show you that His nearness is your refreshment. Do not let fear steal the calm confidence that belongs to those who know their God is mighty.

Let us pray that the power returns swiftly, just as the report suggested. But more than that, let us ask that in these hours you will know the power that raised Christ from the dead working to keep your heart in perfect peace. He is already preparing a testimony that you will be able to tell in the hearing of others, a story of how He met you in a sweltering room and proved Himself as the Lord who never leaves His people stranded. Trust Him now, and watch for His deliverance.
