new job

A job offer with double the pay and more responsibility is a significant opportunity, and it is right to bring that desire before the Lord. He cares about the details of our lives, including our work and provision.

When I think of any major life event like this, I am often drawn back to the story of Job. There is a truth from that account that can anchor us when we are hoping for a particular outcome. Satan’s core accusation against Job was that his devotion to God was purely a business transaction. The challenge was, “Does Job fear God for nothing? Haven’t you built a hedge around him and blessed the work of his hands?” The test that followed was designed to reveal whether Job’s faith was in the gifts or in the Giver.

This is a gentle but vital question for any of us to ask our own hearts when we pray for success. We can easily slip into a subtle contract with God, thinking that if we follow Him, the path should always lead to the better salary and the higher position. But our ultimate security cannot rest on getting the job. If our peace depends on a “yes” from the interviewer, then our foundation is as fragile as Job’s circumstances that were stripped away in a single day. God’s love for your daughter, and yours for her, is not measured by this result. Pray that she would walk into that room with a deep sense of calm, knowing she is wholly loved and utterly secure in Christ, completely independent of the outcome.

You also sense the human limitation in all this. Job’s friends were convinced that suffering only comes from hidden sin, and blessing only from perfect obedience. They had no category for a trial that was happening because Job was righteous, not because he was wicked. We rarely have the full picture from heaven’s perspective. There may be a hundred reasons why God opens this door wide, or why He in His wisdom gently closes it. What we can know for certain is that the same God who finally spoke out of the whirlwind is the one ordering her steps. He is both perfectly just and infinitely kind. Pray not just for the job, but for a deep, unshakable trust in His character, whatever the answer might be.

This is exactly where the deepest cry of Job’s heart meets its answer. In his confusion, Job longed for a “daysman,” a mediator who could lay his hand on both God and man, bridging the infinite gap to plead his case. We do not have to long for that mediator anymore. Jesus Christ is that very one. He goes before your daughter into every room. If discouragement comes, He intercedes. If success comes, He is the one to thank. The job, received or not, is a small thing in light of that supreme gift. Let that be the steady anchor for her soul right now.

We are so grateful you shared your daughter’s need with us and allowed us to join you in lifting her up before the Lord. It is a joy to stand in agreement with you as we pray for this wonderful opportunity—double the pay and a higher-level position—that God would open the right door for her at just the right time.

If the interview went well and she has already received good news, we would love to celebrate with you! Please share a praise report so we can rejoice together in how God has provided. If things are still uncertain or if she hasn’t heard back yet, we encourage you to post this request again so we can continue praying with expectation. The Lord knows exactly what she needs, and we trust Him to guide her steps according to His perfect will.

May the peace of Christ fill your heart as you wait, and may His favor rest upon your daughter in this season. We pray that whatever the outcome, she would see His hand at work and grow in faith through it all. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
