My oldest son

We have heard your prayer for your son and we join you in bringing him and his children before the Lord with compassion and hope.

We understand how heavy his burden feels right now, tired from caring for his children alone, working full time, and carrying the weight of bills and daily needs. Christ Himself says, Come to me all you who labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest, and He promises that His yoke is easy and His burden is light. The burdens that come from worry, overspending and disordered living are indeed heavy and bring constant anxiety and fear, but the way of Christ, though it calls us to faithfulness and self denial, brings rest to the soul and is light because He carries us.

We will pray for your son in the name of Jesus, through whom alone we have salvation and access to the Father. We pray that God will draw him close, give him strength for each day, provide for his financial needs with wisdom and contentment, and guard him and his children in protection and peace. We pray that he will find true happiness not only in relief from pressure but in walking with Christ.

Concerning his relationship, we will not simply ask God to bless it as it is, but we will pray that God will make it holy according to His good design. Scripture teaches that marriage is a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that living together and sharing the intimacy of marriage belongs within that covenant. So we pray that God will lead your son and the other parent of his children to live in a way that honors Him, whether that means being reconciled and united faithfully in holy marriage, or if that is not His will, to live separately in purity while both faithfully fulfill their duties. We pray especially that the other parent will turn toward responsibility, love the children well, be present with them, and practice wise and faithful stewardship instead of overspending.

We also pray for you as you carry this concern in love. The Lord calls us to bear one another's burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ, and we take up this burden with you. May the Lord give you all patience, endurance and trust in His loving care, one day at a time, without adding tomorrow's anxieties to today's.

Father in heaven, we lift up this son and his children to You. Have mercy on them, provide for their needs, protect them from harm, grant the father wisdom, energy and peace, and work in both parents to seek You first and to live according to Your will. Lead them to repentance where needed, to faith in Jesus Christ, and to a home ordered by Your grace. Give this family rest in Christ and guide them by Your Spirit. We ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Thank you for trusting us with this burden for your son. We have prayed for him and for you, asking our Father in the name of Jesus to meet him in this very tiring season.

Because Jesus came from the Father and has gone to the Father, and because He has revealed the Father to us, we do not need another mediator to reach God. Through faith in Jesus we have direct access to the Father, and we can come boldly to Him in Jesus name. The Father Himself loves those who love His Son and believe that He came from God, and He invites us to bring every care to Him as children to a caring Father.

Jesus told His disciples that in this world they would have tribulation, but to take courage because He has overcome the world. He left His own peace with them, not the kind of temporary calm the world offers, but a deep steadiness that comes from knowing the Father is in control and is dwelling with us through Christ. That is the peace we have asked for your son, the peace that guards the heart and mind even when responsibilities are heavy and bills press hard. True peace begins with being reconciled to God through Jesus, and from that peace within we can then know peace in our homes and relationships.

We have prayed that the Lord will strengthen your son as he works and cares for his children, that God will provide for his financial needs, give him rest, and keep him and his children under His protection. Our Father who feeds the birds and clothes the fields knows the needs of His children far better, and we have asked Him to show His faithful care day by day and to give your son wisdom from above, which is peaceable and sows what is right and good.

We have also prayed for the other parent of these children. Rather than simply asking God to bless things as they are, we have asked Him to work in both lives according to His perfect will and His design for the family. God established marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and all intimacy and shared life belong within that covenant. We have prayed that God will draw each of them to Himself through Jesus, lead them to repent where needed, to walk in truth and love, and to embrace responsibility with a faithful heart. We asked that God would give a love for the children that shows itself in presence and care, and a spirit of good stewardship that turns away from overspending to wise and faithful management of what He provides.

May grace and peace from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ rest upon your son and your whole family. Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, trusting that as you seek a loving relationship with Him rather than merely trying to keep rules, He will shape your desires to please Him and will add what you need. We continue to hold your son and his children before the Lord, that he may know he is not alone, that the Father is with him, and that Christ's peace may keep his heart from being troubled or afraid.

We want to thank you for giving us the privilege to pray on your behalf and we are glad that you asked us to stand in agreement with you in prayer for your oldest son. We have continued to bring him before the Lord asking God to bless his relationship and his finances and to take good care of him during this very difficult season.

We have been praying for strength and rest for him as he is tired from caring for the kids alone while working full time and trying to keep up with the bills. We have asked God to surround him with peace and happiness and protection, and to provide for every financial need according to His riches. We have also prayed for his other half that God would turn her heart toward the children and toward wise and faithful stewardship so that overspending would be healed and their relationship would be restored in love and unity.

We cling to the promise that we may cast all our cares on Him because He cares for us in 1 Peter 5:7 and that our God will supply all our needs according to His riches in glory in Philippians 4:19. We pray that the Lord will give your son rest as Jesus promised for all who are weary and heavy burdened in Matthew 11:28.
