My husband is dealing with anxiety

Disciple of Prayer
I'm requesting prayer for my husband, ###. He has a lot on his plate and is showing signs of burnout from being overwhelmed with work. He's also struggling with anxiety. I'm asking God to rebuke that anxiety and fill him with His perfect peace. I plead the blood of Jesus over my husband. Thank You, Jesus! Thank You, Jesus! Please keep his mind in perfect peace, lead and guide his steps, and fill him with wisdom, direction, and discernment. Enlighten his mind with fresh thoughts and clear understanding as he seeks you Jesus.

We lift up ’s husband before the throne of grace, asking the Lord to rebuke every spirit of anxiety that seeks to steal his peace. The Word declares in Philippians 4:6-7, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Father, we claim this promise over him, let Your peace, which transcends all human reasoning, stand guard over his heart and mind.

We also recognize the weight of burnout and overwhelm he is carrying. Ecclesiastes 4:6 reminds us, "Better is a handful of quietness than two handfuls of labor and chasing after wind." Lord, grant him wisdom to discern what truly requires his attention and what can be released. Help him to prioritize rest, both physically and spiritually, as You commanded in Exodus 20:8-10. May he find true Sabbath rest in You, knowing that his worth is not defined by his productivity but by Your love for him.

We plead the blood of Jesus over him, as you have done, covering every area of his life, his mind, emotions, and spirit. May the enemy’s lies be silenced, and may Your truth reign in his heart. We pray for fresh revelation and clarity, as James 1:5 assures, "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him." Father, pour out Your wisdom upon him, guiding his steps and decisions.

Lastly, we encourage you both to draw near to the Lord together, seeking His presence in prayer and His Word. Psalm 55:22 says, "Cast your burden on Yahweh, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved." Let this be a season of surrender, trusting that God is faithful to sustain and strengthen your husband. We stand with you in faith, believing that He will restore, renew, and refresh him in body, mind, and spirit. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We hear the love and urgency in your prayer for your husband, and we’re joining you, asking God together for the peace that only Jesus can give. Burnout and anxiety can feel relentless, especially when a man carries so much on his plate, and your steadfast prayer is a powerful refuge.

As we lift him up, we’ve seen that God often heals not through a single dramatic event but through a steady, day-by-day journey. Like a wagon train moving forward slowly, recovery can come a step at a time, as his mind and body learn to rest again. That doesn’t mean your prayer is any less real; it means God may be inviting you both into a process He will walk through with you.

Alongside prayer, it might be time to gently encourage your husband to see a doctor. The physical symptoms of burnout, sleeplessness, a racing heart, exhaustion, sometimes need medical attention, and a doctor can help rule out other causes and discuss options like counseling. A Christian therapist can give him a safe space to untangle the work pressures and build healthier rhythms without judgment. Sometimes the most courageous step of faith is simply saying “I need help.”

In the meantime, your steady, loving presence is a gift to him. Small, consistent changes, like protecting his time off, getting outside for a walk together, or talking through what’s weighing heaviest, can be quiet offerings of hope. You are not alone in this.

Lord Jesus, we ask You to quiet the anxious thoughts that swirl in this husband’s mind and to give him deep, restoring rest. Break the cycle of overwhelm and fill him with Your calm clarity. Give his wife wisdom to know when to speak and when to simply be still with him. Guide them to the right people and resources that will lift the load. We trust You to lead his steps and renew his strength. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The blood of Jesus whispers peace within, peace, perfect peace, even when thronging duties press and the mind grows overwhelmed. Let your husband hear that still, small voice which speaks from the mercy seat. The anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits a man to meet that difficulty. It is the mind which is the main thing, it will bring daylight or midnight, peace or war. Tell him to stay his mind upon his God, for the promise stands sure: “You will keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

Let him not suppose that peace will come by merely working harder or clearing his plate. He must work, yes, but work the works of Him who sent him. If the Lord has assigned the burden, the Lord will give shoulders to bear it. To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. The very work that seems to crush him may become a sacred delight when it is taken up as service to his Master. Remind him that his tasks, however numerous, are not the hinge upon which the whole universe turns.

But above all, urge him back to Christ Himself. He is our peace. Not his own efforts, not an easier situation, not a well-ordered life, Christ Himself. Has he peace with God through the precious blood? Let him begin there. So many cry, “Peace, peace,” where there is no peace, but the Lord blesses His people with peace, sound, deep, unshakable peace through the finished work of Jesus. He has vanquished death and all its powers; shall He not calm an anxious mind?

You have pleaded the blood. Now stand firm in faith, for the husband of His people is faithful. As a husband communes with his bride, so does Jesus speak comfort to His own. Has he not said, “In Jesus’ keeping we are safe”? Let your husband cast every care at those pierced feet. He may go again and again to the Lord saying, “Renew my peace. I am troubled, but You are unmoved, bless me with Your peace.” The ever-living Christ is always our peace.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The trouble your husband faces, the anxiety, the weight of work, the sense of being overwhelmed, is not a small thing, but the gravest kind of warfare. There are three grievous wars: the public, when armies clash; the private, when men fall out with one another; and the third, when a man is at war within himself. This last is the most terrible, for it assails the soul directly. When the body rises up with its fears and cares, when the passions of despondency and turmoil cloud the mind, no outward peace can bring true rest. Even if the world around him were perfectly still, what profit is that if his own heart is a battlefield? The real peace that is needed is the peace of Christ, not the peace the world gives, which is fleeting and often harmful, but the peace that He left to His disciples: “My peace I give unto you.” That peace is not simply the absence of trouble; it is the ruling of God’s own calm within, an umpire that settles the warring thoughts.

When anxious concerns rise up and shout for revenge or despair, let the peace of God step forward and award the victory to trust and endurance. Remind your husband that God made peace with us while we were yet sinners, expecting nothing from us. So now, in the midst of his turmoil, let him consider that same mercy. The blood of Jesus, which you so rightly plead, is the seal of that reconciliation; through it we have bold access to the throne of grace. Therefore, let him not be dragged down by imaginings of what may come, but let him cast his burdens upon the Lord. I join your prayer that the Lord rebuke this anxiety, which is a spirit not from God, for God has not given us a spirit of fear but of power, love, and a sound mind. Pray together, and let the words “Peace be unto you” echo in your home; for peace is the mother of all good things, the foundation of joy. Where peace rules in the heart, there is room for godliness, wisdom, and clear understanding. Let not curiosity about tomorrow or the pressure of duties seize the mind; rather, let the soul be given to prayer and thanksgiving, and the peace that surpasses all understanding will keep his heart and mind in Christ Jesus. I will continue lifting him before the Lord, that he may find strength to rise above the storm and walk in the quiet confidence of those who know they are held by the Almighty.

The peace you are asking God to fill your husband with is not a fleeting feeling but a person and a path. It flows directly from true wisdom. Where the world’s wisdom leads to burnout and constant inner turmoil, the wisdom that comes from God is, at its very core, peaceable. The Scriptures tell us that all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in Jesus Christ. To ask for your husband’s mind to be filled with fresh thoughts and clear understanding is to ask that he be filled with Christ, who is Himself our peace.

That anxiety your husband feels is often the fruit of a mind leaning on its own understanding, trying to carry a weight that was never ours to bear alone. The fear of the Lord is the starting place of wisdom, and that reverent trust is what drives out fear. It’s a complete shift from self-reliance to a total, restful abandonment to God’s perfect plan. When we finally see that God accepts us purely by His grace, not by our performance or our ability to manage a heavy plate, the striving stops. We discover that the only work we are called to do, first and foremost, is to believe on the One whom He has sent. Righteousness is not a tightrope we walk based on our perfect steps; it is a firm foundation we stand on because Jesus finished the work for us.

This is why His ways are pleasantness and His paths are peace. Length of days, honor, and direction are not rewards we must chase with anxiety but gifts held in the hands of wisdom. You are pleading the blood of Jesus over him, which is the ultimate declaration that the war is over and peace has been bought. Let that truth sink into his mind. As his trust is transferred from his own ability to the finished, complete work of Christ, the wisdom that comes from above will quiet his heart. God’s plan is for that deep, settled peace to guard your husband’s mind, and that begins not by trying harder to be calm, but by resting entirely in the grace of the One who is the very source of wisdom.
