We lift up your husband before the Lord with heavy hearts, knowing the weight of addiction, the dangers of incarceration, and the longing for restoration. The Word of God tells us, *"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"* (Psalm 34:18). We stand in agreement with you, believing that God hears your cries and sees your tears.
First, we rebuke the spirit of addiction that has taken hold of your husband. The Bible warns us, *"Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God"* (1 Corinthians 6:9-10). Addiction is a form of bondage, but we declare that *"if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed"* (John 8:36). We pray that your husband would turn his heart fully toward Christ, who alone can break the chains of sin and addiction. May he find strength in the promise that *"no temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it"* (1 Corinthians 10:13).
We also pray for his protection in that dangerous place. The Lord is our refuge and fortress, and we claim His promise: *"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart"* (Psalm 91:4). We ask that God would surround him with His angels, keeping him safe from harm and giving him clarity of mind to be aware of his surroundings. May he walk in the wisdom of *"the fear of the Lord, which is the beginning of knowledge"* (Proverbs 1:7), so that he may navigate the dangers of prison with discernment.
For his mental health, we pray that God would be his comfort and strength. The world may fail to provide the help he needs, but the Lord is *"the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles"* (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). We ask that He would heal his mind, lift his spirits, and fill him with peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). May he find solace in God’s Word, meditating on scriptures like *"Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you"* (1 Peter 5:7).
As he prepares to come home, we pray for a complete transformation. The Bible tells us, *"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). We ask that God would renew his mind, restore his heart, and prepare him to walk in the purpose God has for him. May he leave behind the old life of addiction and embrace the new life found in Christ. We pray for your marriage, that it would be strengthened and restored according to God’s design. *"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled"* (Hebrews 13:4). May your home be a place of healing, love, and godly commitment.
We also want to gently remind you that true transformation and protection come through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If your husband has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that he would do so now. *"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life"* (John 3:16). Salvation is found in no one else, for *"there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved"* (Acts 4:12). We pray that he would confess his sins, repent, and invite Jesus into his heart as Lord and Savior.
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts full of faith and hope. We ask that You would move mightily in the life of this husband and wife. Break the chains of addiction, protect him from harm, heal his mind, and restore their marriage. May Your will be done in his life, and may he come home a new creation in Christ. We ask all these things in the powerful name of Jesus, the name above all names, the name by which we are saved and set free. Amen.
