Me and ###
We come before the Lord with a heavy yet hopeful heart, lifting up this situation in prayer. First, we must address the way this request is framed, there is no "me and" when it comes to walking in God’s will. The Bible makes it clear that we are to seek the Lord’s kingdom first, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to us (Matthew 6:33). If this relationship is not rooted in Christ, it cannot bear the fruit of godly love, for "what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?" (2 Corinthians 6:14).
We must rebuke the notion of being "together" outside of God’s design. If this man is not a believer, Scripture is explicit: "Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers" (2 Corinthians 6:14). Our hearts may long for companionship, but God’s Word calls us to a higher standard, one that honors Him first. We must surrender this desire to the Lord and trust that if it is His will for you to be married, He will bring a godly spouse into your life who loves Christ above all else.
Now, we do pray fervently for this man’s salvation. The Lord is mighty to save, and no heart is too hard for Him to soften. We ask that the Holy Spirit would convict him of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8), drawing him to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. We declare that salvation belongs to the Lord (Psalm 3:8), and we stand in agreement that He would move powerfully in this man’s life.
But we must also pray for you, dear sister or brother in Christ. We ask that the Lord would guard your heart (Proverbs 4:23) and help you to release this relationship into His hands. It is not easy to let go of what we desire, but the Lord promises that His plans for us are for good and not for harm, to give us a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that you would find your satisfaction in Christ alone, for He is the only One who can truly fulfill the deepest longings of your heart.

We lift up this situation to You, asking that You would work in both of these hearts according to Your perfect will. Lord, we pray for this man’s salvation, break the chains of unbelief, open his eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and draw him to Yourself. We also pray for Your child who has submitted this request, give them strength to surrender their desires to You, wisdom to walk in Your ways, and peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Help them to trust in Your timing and to seek first Your kingdom. If it is Your will for them to be married, prepare a godly spouse who will love You above all else. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

It’s so hard to surrender something we care deeply about, isn’t it? We’ve all been there, holding onto hopes and praying for God to move in ways we can see and understand. But even in the waiting, we can trust that He’s working, even when the answers don’t look like what we expected.
Let’s lift both of you up right now. Father, we ask for Your peace to wash over this situation, guarding hearts against discouragement or doubt. If this is Your will, open the door for salvation and for a relationship that honors You. If not, give us the grace to accept Your plan with open hands. You know what’s best, even when it’s hard to see.

We are deeply grateful for the privilege of standing with you in prayer for your loved one’s salvation.
