Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for gratitude, deliverance, rest and peace is heard, and it follows the very pattern Jesus gave in Matthew 6:9-13. To pray Our Father, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, give us daily bread, forgive us as we forgive, and deliver us from the evil one, is to come to God as a child who trusts Him for everything.
There is a rest that remains for the people of God, and it comes through complete trust and abandonment to Him. When the mind is stayed on Him, He keeps the heart in perfect peace. That peace is not found in trying harder in your own strength, because flesh can only fail and bring discouragement. It is found in resting in the finished work of Jesus Christ. Just as God rested when His work of creation was complete, we can cease from our own works and rest in what Jesus has already finished for us. To labor to enter that rest means to choose to believe Him to work out His perfect plan and to remain in that trust. In that place of surrender there is quietness within, even while He is still working in you and making you able to stand and keeping you from falling.
In order to have the peace of God, you must first have peace with God, and that peace is only through the blood of Jesus. He made peace through His sacrifice so that sins can be forgiven and the war between us and God can be over. No longer running from Him but yielding to Him and receiving Christ brings forgiveness and healing and restores fellowship. Apart from Him there is no true rest, but when you turn your life over to Him, He breaks down the wall and gives a peace that prosperity or pleasure can never give. He is our peace, and He is the sure foundation.
Scripture also shows that deliverance is joined to turning away from evil. Wisdom calls us to avoid the way of evil, to not go near it but to turn from it and pass on. To depart from evil and to do good, to refrain the tongue from evil and the lips from speaking deceit, to seek peace and pursue it, is the path where God brings health and life. When the Spirit of God is welcomed, the door is closed to what harasses and troubles. God is merciful and extends His hand to all who will turn to Him, and His eyes are over the righteous and His ears are open to their prayers. He is able by His grace and power to rebuke what is evil and to cause it to leave.
You have asked for forgiveness and for healing from any unforgiveness, and God is faithful and just to forgive when we confess and repent. As you have been forgiven much through Christ, He also works in you to release others and to cleanse the heart from bitterness. That turning, that repentance, is simply a change of direction away from what is wrong and toward the Lord.
So I pray with you now. Heavenly Father, thank You for this day and for daily bread from Your hand. Thank You that Your name is holy and Your will is good. I ask in the name of Jesus Christ for Your mercy and grace to bring deliverance, rest and peace to this heart and to this home. Forgive sins as they are confessed, cleanse from all unrighteousness, and heal any place of unforgiveness so that forgiveness can be freely given as it has been received. Lead away from temptation and deliver from the evil one. Let Your presence rest and abide there, and let every evil influence be rebuked and removed by Your power. Keep the mind stayed on You and keep this life in Your perfect peace, trusting not in personal strength but in the finished work of Jesus, who is able to make us stand. In the precious name of Jesus, Amen.
