We rejoice with you in this blessed season of anticipation as your son prepares to enter into the sacred covenant of marriage! The Lord has designed this union to reflect His love, faithfulness, and commitment to His people, and we stand with you in prayer as this joyous occasion approaches.

Marriage is a divine institution, established by God from the very beginning. Genesis 2:24 tells us, "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they shall be one flesh." This union is not merely a human agreement but a holy bond, ordained by the Creator to bring glory to His name. We pray that your son and his future wife will build their marriage upon the foundation of Christ, seeking His wisdom and guidance in all things.

Father God, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude for the gift of marriage. We lift up and his bride-to-be, asking that You would prepare their hearts, minds, and spirits for the lifelong commitment they are about to make. Lord, we pray that their love for one another would be rooted in their love for You, and that their marriage would be a testament to Your grace, mercy, and faithfulness. May they seek You first in all things, and may their union bring honor and glory to Your name.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment as they navigate the practical and spiritual aspects of planning their wedding and their life together. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." May they lean on You, Lord, for direction and provision, and may their marriage be a reflection of Your perfect will.

Additionally, we encourage your son and his future wife to seek godly counsel as they prepare for marriage. Proverbs 15:22 says, "Where there is no counsel, plans fail; but in a multitude of counselors they are established." May they surround themselves with wise, faithful believers who can offer guidance, support, and accountability as they embark on this journey together.

Let us also remember the importance of purity and holiness in their relationship. Hebrews 13:4 declares, "Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the bed be undefiled; but God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers." We pray that they would honor You, Lord, by keeping their relationship pure and holy, both before and after their wedding day. May their love for one another be a reflection of the purity and sanctity that You desire in marriage.

Lastly, we pray for their spiritual growth as individuals and as a couple. May they encourage one another in their walk with Christ, studying Your Word together, praying together, and serving You side by side. Ecclesiastes 4:12 tells us, "A triple-braided cord is not quickly broken." May their marriage be strengthened by the presence of the Holy Spirit, binding them together in love, faith, and unity.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of marriage and for the joy that comes from seeing Your children unite in this holy covenant. We ask that You would bless and his future wife abundantly, filling their home with Your peace, joy, and love. May their marriage be a light to others, pointing them to the love and grace found only in You. We pray all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

In a quiet moment, you might consider doing that with your son in a tangible way. It doesn't need to be elaborate. A handwritten note, a shared conversation where you tell him the things you see God doing in him and his fiancée, or simply putting a hand on his shoulder and letting him know he has your full support, these are the kinds of moments that anchor a person for the journey ahead.

What a mercy that your son is to enter the estate of marriage, that ordinance which from the beginning was given for mutual help and comfort, and which is a living parable of the union betwixt Christ and His Church. Yet before we speak of the earthly ceremony, let us settle it in our hearts that no true marriage can be, no lasting blessing rest upon it, unless first there be a marriage of the soul to the Lamb of God. The wedding ring of faith must be placed upon the finger of his spirit; he must be betrothed unto Christ by a living trust, else the shadow will lack substance. Settle it, then, in prayer: has your son chosen the Lord, and has the Lord chosen him? That is the affinity not of birth but of grace, cemented by love divine.

Pray therefore that he and his beloved may be blessed with that mutual affection which alone makes marriage sweet, and that from this day forward they may be a blessing to all around them. No spiritual blessing comes by chance; it must be sought with strong crying and tears, with the resolve, “I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.” Mingle prayer with thanksgiving, and teach them to expect that the Lord will bless them indeed, and make them a blessing. As they are called to the earthly feast, may they set their hope fully on that day when the marriage of the Lamb is come, and the bride hath made herself ready in raiment granted her by grace.

To you who have brought this request, be not content with a whisper of supplication. Be like the patriarch, bringing your offspring to receive the blessing of your prayers, a heritage richer than gold. The blessing of a parent, offered in faith, is no light thing. And as you pray for them, seek also for yourself that you may overflow with blessing to them, that your life may ever point them to the Bridegroom of souls. May the Lord bless your son, and make him wholly His, then shall the union be thrice happy, bound up in the bundle of life with the Lord his God.

Your request for prayer on behalf of your son and his approaching marriage is right and fitting, for marriage is a bond ordained by God, a union that reflects the mystery of Christ and His Church. Yet I must also stir your heart to consider what manner of preparation this year will bring. The outward festivities alone are not the marriage; the wedding feast is not truly honored by lavish tables and extravagant garments, but by the garment of a pure heart and righteous deeds. Too often, the solemnity of this bond is mocked by the presence of immodest entertainments and shameful customs, things that belong to darkness rather than to the light of such a holy day.

Why would you introduce the foul stench of the dunghill into the preparation of sweet ointment? Let the friends who gather, both virgins and matrons, be such as adorn rather than corrupt. Let the young man see to it that he receives this blessing not after the flesh, but after the Spirit: for carnal things are passing, but spiritual blessings are eternal and far more excellent. Pray then that he and his bride may be clothed in the bright robe of faith and love, so that when the true Bridegroom calls, they may enter the marriage feast of the age to come without shame.

This I shall also beseech the Lord on his behalf, with all gravity and joy.

It’s a beautiful thing to see your son preparing for marriage, and it’s right to bring this season before the Lord. So much more than planning a ceremony is at stake: two lives are becoming one in a sacred covenant. Scripture speaks of marriage as a compound unity, two distinct persons, yet mysteriously welded into one flesh by God’s design. That kind of bond needs heaven’s constant supply, because the real battles for any marriage are fought and won long before the pressures ever surface on the home front.

If Jesus, the Son of God, regularly withdrew alone to pray for strength and guidance, how much more do we and our children need that same well of grace? The victory wasn’t decided on the public stage; it was won in the quiet of the garden. In the same way, the foundations of a lasting marriage are laid in prayer closets, not on wedding days. And after we’ve prayed, we can do more, but never less. So I’ll join you in praying not just for the big day, but for the unseen battles: that your son and his bride will not drift into warming themselves at the world’s fire for comfort, but will learn early to feed their spirits as faithfully as they feed their bodies. Fasting and prayer, in due season, can teach them to say no to the flesh so their spirits grow strong and flexible, never hardening into a rut of mere routine.

Let’s ask the Father together that they will follow close to the Lord, drawing their life from him. He is the true Bridegroom who redeems every messy family line, like he did through Ruth and Boaz, and he delights to take ordinary, imperfect people and weave them into his own story of redemption. As they bind the strong man through prayer, every other challenge becomes a matter of taking spoils, not a desperate struggle. I’m grateful you brought this request. May your son and his future wife abide in Christ, bound together in his love, and discover day by day that the place of prayer is the place of power for their life together.
