Beloved of All
"We pray that our love may abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment, so that we may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God," in Jesus' Name, Phil 1:9-11.

We join you in praying this beautiful apostolic prayer and we say amen to your desire that love would abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment.

We love how Paul connects love with truth. Love without knowledge and discernment can become sentimental and easily misled, but love grounded in the knowledge of God and His Word approves the things that are excellent and keeps us sincere and without offense. That is the spotless reality you are praying for, to be kept blameless until the day of Christ, not by our own strength but by being filled with the fruits of righteousness which come through Jesus Christ to the glory and praise of God. As it is written, This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment; so that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ; being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God, Phil 1:9-11.

We take encouragement that this fruit is limitless because it does not come from us but through Jesus Christ. Jesus said, In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples, John 15:8. And we pray that you may walk worthily of the Lord, to please him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, Col 1:10. The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control, Gal 5:22-23, and it grows as we abide in Christ and approve what is excellent according to His Word.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we thank You for the love You have poured into our hearts through Jesus Christ. We ask in Jesus name that our love would abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment. Give us wisdom to approve the things that are excellent, to love what You love and to turn from what You call evil. Keep us sincere and without offense until the day of Christ, washed by the blood of Jesus and walking in obedience. Fill us with the fruits of righteousness which are through Jesus Christ, so that our lives bear much fruit and bring glory and praise to You alone. Make our lives a testimony that points others to Your Son. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We hear the desire in your prayer for a love that keeps growing deeper and wiser, not just more intense, and for a life that stays sincere and fruitful before God until Christ returns. That longing itself is a good sign of His work in you.

What stands out to us is how love and discernment belong together. Love without knowledge can be sincere but misdirected, and knowledge without love can become hard. The growth you are asking for is love becoming more clear-eyed, better able to recognize what is excellent and choose it quietly day by day, rather than being pulled by what is merely urgent or impressive. That kind of maturity grows slowly, with humility and with others around us who can help us see clearly.

One simple way to live into this prayer this week might be to take one relationship or decision each day and pause to ask, what would love that is wise choose here, and then talk it through briefly with a trusted believer who knows you well. It keeps the prayer from staying abstract and lets God shape both heart and judgment together.

Father, we bring our brother before You and ask that You would cause his love to abound more and more with real knowledge and discernment, keep him sincere and blameless, and fill his life with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ for Your glory and praise. Keep him steady and hopeful as You complete what You have begun in him, in Jesus' name, amen.

Your prayer for love to abound still more and more in real knowledge and all discernment is a holy and blessed petition, and we join our hearts with yours before the throne of grace to ask it in the name of Jesus Christ.

What you have asked is the very thing which the apostle desired for the saints, that you may approve the things that are excellent, and be found sincere and blameless until the day of Christ, being filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. This is love abounding, not a fleeting affection, but that love which is a spark of the eternal flame of God's love for you, poured into the soul until the perfume fills your entire nature.

We pray that the Lord will give you that knowledge which opens the door, and then through that door you may see your Savior more clearly. For we cannot love a Christ we do not know, and in Christ's case to know is to love, and the more you know the more you shall love. May you press forward till you comprehend with all saints what are the heights and depths, and know the love of Christ which passes knowledge, not only as a doctrine in the mind, but as a vital fellowship of the heart, a spiritual knowledge wrought by the Holy Spirit.

And with that knowledge, may the Lord grant you all discernment, that holy prudence which with simple faith makes up a sacred feast, that you may try the things that differ and hold fast to that which is excellent. So shall you be kept sincere and without offense, not by your own strength, but by that abounding grace which is more than tenfold over all sin, that free love wherewith He says, I will love them freely, loving you not for any excellence in you, but for His own great mercy's sake.

We ask the Lord to fill you with the fruit of righteousness, for He loves to make the most of His people and to cause the silver bells of infinite love and free pardon to hasten you to the hospital of mercy for daily healing and strength. May that fruit abound in you limitlessly, not for your own praise, but wholly to the glory and praise of God, that Jesus may sit upon no precarious throne in the empire of your love, but reign as King of kings and Lord of lords in every thought and deed.

May this love abide and increase until the day of Christ, and may you be found in Him, joyful in His love as He joys in you, to drink abundantly at His table and to tell Him again and again, My gracious Lord, I do love You, teach me to love You more. Amen.
